Barrels of Laughs
Lure enemies close to barrels and ignite them from afar. Look for barrels with long fuses. These you can ignite and then get to cover, or use as traps for enemies.

Take to the sky as Spyro.

Keep on Moving
Walk when running is too risky, such as on narrow ledges. When you do run, you can build up speed gradually by pressing forward gently on the right stick. This keeps the camera behind Spyro constantly, providing the best view of the path ahead.

Don't forget that you can glide in place, you don't have to be moving. Use this trick when gliding over to narrow ledges and tiny platforms to ensure safe landings.

Combat Strategy
Stronger enemies drop extra gems when you hit them with Spyro's mega attack combo, so use it often. It is tough to score a mega attack against certain enemies, particularly Dreadwings. Pop them with a quick headbutt instead, then jump up and use a combo in midair.

Spyro can damage anything by ramming it while charging, so don't forget to use this method as an attack.

Circle your enemy by using the left stick as you perform combos in midair. This can help you knock an opponent into a group of his cohorts after your combo, or even off a cliff! When you throw an enemy off a tall cliff, the fall is usually lethal. Stick around for a few extra seconds to get your gem reward.

Use the tail strike to smash through the roots in the Swamp, and also to pound the many pressure blocks you encounter at Tall Plains.

When you face several enemies at once, tap the charge trigger to make Spyro horn dive from one enemy to the next.
