Xbox Live® means different things to different people. For some, it is a perpetually raging battlefield where the world's toughest cyber soldiers can test their reflexes in tournaments, matches, and events. For others, Xbox Live Marketplace is where it's at for music, video, and game demo downloads.

Regardless of your leanings, there is one facet of the premiere online gaming service that can be utilized and enjoyed by all: the Achievements system

Achievement Basics
Every title published for Xbox 360™ has its own unique set of achievements laid out by the game's creators, and each achievement has a point value. To earn the points, as an example, you may need to reach a particular score on your first play-through, or a meet a set requirement that changes the very way you approach the game.

Ultimately, it's up to the developer to break down the total number of gamerscore points and assign them to different achievements for that game. As you pass each in-game milestone and accrue more points, you may unlock even more secret achievements. This element of mystery rewards players of a persistent and adventurous nature and encourages them to explore every nook and cranny laid out before them.

King Kong
In Peter Jackson's King Kong™ The Official Game of the Movie, you play as Jack Driscoll, a New York playwright assisting reckless down-on-his-luck director Carl Denham who is shooting on location at mysterious Skull Island. What starts as a simple low-budget flick quickly spirals out of control as the cast and crew are shipwrecked and stranded. With few weapons and even fewer allies, you must fight to survive against the ravenous wild creatures waiting to feast on your flesh.

The developers at Ubisoft (under the direction of acclaimed designer Michel Ancel of Beyond Good and Evil™ fame) opted to assign fairly straightforward goals for players to unlock. That's not to say you won't find it challenging to earn every achievement the game offers; each goal laid before you in Peter Jackson's King Kong requires you to react quickly, smite your foes with skill and efficiency, and use the environment to your advantage. Each goal nets you 100 gamerscore points unless noted otherwise. See how many you can complete.

There are nine separate Achievements in King Kong.

Achievements

• Complete the Game: Finish the story and you'll add 200 points to your gamerscore.
• King of Demolition: As Kong, destroy the village of the Natives to satisfy this goal.
• King of Skull Island: Kill the Giant Snakes as Kong.
• Foodchain Master: Jack is continually on the run from his predators. Use the foodchain system (use smaller creatures as bait to lure larger creatures away from you or into a trap) to escape certain death.
• Protector: Protect your companions from harm.
• King of the V-Rexes: Kong doesn't like V-Rexes. Kill a bunch to earn this badge of honor.
• V-Rex Annihilator: Did we mention Kong really doesn't like V-Rexes?
• King of the Jungle: Exert Kong's supremacy over the lesser inhabitants of Skull Island.
• Pyromaniac: Burn baby, burn! Use a fire-tipped spear (or knock over a fire skull) to set the underbrush ablaze. Not only will this clear a path for you and your crew, but you'll also scare off -or incinerate—pesky ground-dwelling enemies.

In addition to earning maximum gamerscore, you also unlock bonus content including movie trailers, concept art, and special filters as you complete portions of the game. You can replay any level to improve your score, so hone your skills and unlock everything you can. Go get 'em, Kong.
