On the surface, your job seems simple. Infiltrate a deceptively quiet island community that is rife with political strife, and set a match to the powder keg, striking a blow for the people and for freedom, but mostly for the black-ops phantom agency you work for. Viva La Revolucion! The Right to Bear Arms Auto-aim, unlike in some other games, is actually quite handy. Use it to pick out targets that you can't see, like hiding soldiers, or a helicopter on the other side of an obstacle. Switch to the shoulder view to lead moving targets. The auto-aim doesn't pick up moving targets well, so use this technique for targets like fast-moving vehicles. Use the target selector to zoom in on grenades to shoot them. Shooting a grenade in the air will cause significant splash damage, so you can shoot the grenades you throw, or those thrown at you, so long as they're not too close. Use grenades in this manner to take out heavy targets like police cars or personnel carriers, instead of wasting ammo shooting at them. The explosion will kill off all the troops as they try to escape the burning vehicle. Ammo is vital, particularly in missions like Starting A Liberation, but they longer you're away from your troops, the more ground they will lose. If you have to return to your ammo supply often, do it fast, or your guerillas won't make any progress. Vehicular Manslaughter When flying a helicopter, remember that they're not aggressive enough to automatically target guerilla vehicles with the missiles, only with the machine guns. Feel free to use the aerial advantage early on to get to the Flag Bay, instead of facing the challenge of trying to get there on foot. The government's MVs are decidedly better than your pickup trucks, so pick one up and take it for a joyride in the city. Guerrillas will leap to your aid, hopping on board and manning the guns, tearing up the police and militia on the sidewalks. Living to Fight Again When the heat comes down, either from the law or from the Montano cartel, disappear at one of your safe houses. Staying away for a period will let the heat on you die down, and allow you to start fresh. On the streets, duck into alleys to get out of the line of fire. Let things cool off, but don't go to ground so long that your men start losing ground. There's a revolution out there to be started, and your shadowy employers have decided it is not going to happen on its own. The folks at Prima Games are proud revolutionaries, and are happy to provide you with these tips to successfully liberate San Esperito. Article by Prima Games |
