Prima's Top Ten Tips

Published September 13, 2007

Inspector Tequila has a difficult road ahead of him, with the Golden Kane and Dragon Claw crime syndicates, and the Russian mob all attempting to rule the underworld of Hong Kong. Maybe he could use a little help. Prima Games presents their top ten tips for success in the game John Woo presents Stranglehold™.

1. Wreak Havoc
Collecting achievements? Use the Barrage Tequila Bomb to wreak absolute havoc on the environment to earn the Massive D achievement. The Mega Casino and Chicago History Museum stages are great places to rack up millions of dollars of damage. Blast slot machines, priceless vases, and ancient dinosaur bones.

Now that's a stylish move.

2. Destroy Drugs with Style
When destroying drug tables in the Tai O stage, use Precision Aim to shoot the tables through the cracks and holes in the walls of the sheds and shacks. The drug tables are extremely volatile, so pop them when thugs and lowlifes are standing next to them. You'll bank a lot of style points.

3. Glints
Always keep your eyes open for glints. These flashes of light indicate environmental hazards you can use against your enemies. Eliminating enemies with falling signs or other heavy objects earns style points. The more style points you bank, the more Tequila Bombs you can use.

4. Barrage Tequila Bomb
If you're ever low on ammo, use the Barrage Tequila Bomb. You don't spend any rounds while blasting with Barrage. This allows you to thin the herd of bad guys around you. They drop weapons, so as soon as Barrage finishes, pick up the excess gear and stay in the fight.

5. The Man With the Golden Gun
Seek out the golden pistols. These guns eliminate an enemy with just one shot, no matter where you hit them. The golden pistol will not take down a boss with just one hit, but they will do extensive damage.

6. Cover Comes, Cover Goes
Most cover can be destroyed by bullets, so don't hide behind a pillar or a table and just wait. Depending on the material, enemy bullets will chew through cover and start striking you within seconds.

7. Dual Guns
Tequila's pistols may not technically be the most powerful weapons at his disposal, but they are the most accurate and have the highest rate of fire. If you repeatedly squeeze the trigger, you fire each pistol alternately. Do this quickly and you'll put a whole clip into an enemy with lethal accuracy.

Pressing the trigger repeatedly will have you dual-wielding pistols.

8. Paper Cranes
Collect those paper cranes! Not only do they refill your Tequila Bombs, but if you collect over 250 of them, you unlock the Origami Master achievement.

9. Aim Precisely
Use Precision Aim to target a specific enemy with pinpoint accuracy, and take advantage of its ability to set off environmental hazards. In the alley of Marketplace where you first earn the Tequila Bomb, for example, use Precision Aim to detonate exploding barrels or dislodge signs to kill multiple thugs.

10. Grab First Aid
First aid kits often line the outer walls of the boss battle arenas. For example, when taking on Lok at the end of the Mega chapter, scour the round, outer walls of the room for extra health instead of stepping into the center.

Good luck, Inspector! We're counting on you.
