Halo® 2 continues to rule on Xbox Live™ … and it will now dominate even more with the new Bonus Map Pack! Free to Xbox Livesubscribers—thanks to the folks at Mountain Dew—the new download features two multiplayer maps that are designed to provide the most action for the largest number of Halo-mad shooter fans.
Containment This large, symmetrical map features two massive fortress-style bases facing each other over a shallow ravine. Each base is accessible through tunnels at each end or by the central gate, which is impassable unless you use the nearby controls to open it. The base interiors have multiple levels, complete with turrets and Sniper Rifles to keep the riff-raff away; a host of vehicles, including a Warthog, Banshee, and Scorpion tank; and a teleporter that automatically takes you to the top of the watchtower outside of your base's thick walls.
Defenders have all the tools they need to hold off an aggressive attack, but attackers also have multiple ways to get in, so expect a lot of the action to take place at or near the points of entry.
Outside the walls of each base there are rock formations to use as cover (which will be essential when the defenders are throwing down on you from above with the Turret Guns) and the aforementioned watchtower (which houses both the nearest gate controls and a teleporter).
Players will also find a new kind of obstacle or weapon in the form of pyramid-shaped devices that explode when fired upon. These babies pack considerably more wallop than your standard exploding barrel. It only takes a few bursts from the Assault Rifle to set one of these beauties off, and when they go, they can take out any Spartan or Banshee within range in one loud blast of heat and noise.
Warlock Here's an arena that understands
the value of elegant design. This tight map is merely a series of
ramps and platforms in a large, cylindrical room. You can climb to
any of the platforms via its ramp and then jump to the
color-specific base nearby. Or, you can jump to the center
platform, which gives you easy access to all four of the raised
areas and a handy Active Camouflage pick-up.
Below all these raised areas is a floor littered with weapons and
four teleporters that will zap you from one end of the room to the
other. Each platform has a sheltered area beneath it, where guns,
grenades, and ammo can be found. If the firefights on the ramps are
too hot for your taste, you can catch a lift from one of the air
stream vents, which will carry you safely up to the second level.
Warlock is tailor-made for two to four teams of two to four
players. It packs the maximum amount of action into the tightest
space imaginable, while still rewarding solid teamwork and good
strategy.
