This Week in Xbox: July 2-9, 2008At A Glance
Battlefield: Bad Company™ is still in heavy rotation on my Xbox 360®, because I have to finish the single-player before next week, when Sid Meier's Civilization® Revolution™ ships. I hope you're all prepared to read about Civilization: Revolution every week for a long time. My name is Denny, and I am a Civ addict.
This is where Denny will be spending most of the rest of 2008. New ReleasesThis week it's time to rock, with Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith® hitting shelves and bringing a virtual Steven Tyler into your own living room. Now, obviously, you gotta like Aerosmith to fully appreciate this game, but along with hits like "Dream On" and both the original and Run D.M.C.'d versions of "Walk this Way," you'll also find songs from other bands that have inspired them, like Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" and Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever."
You'll have to supply your own scarves. This week also sees an updated Gears of War® package hitting shelves for just $39.99. The refreshed release includes not only the award-winning game, but also a bonus disc with Multiplayer Map Packs 1 and 2, special themes and gamerpics, and trailers for the upcoming Gears of War® 2. If you somehow haven't played Gears yet, or you want to revisit it and try the new maps, this is a deal that's hard to resist. High CaliburThis week on Xbox LIVE® Arcade, you can download SoulCalibur®, one of the highest-rated console fighting games ever. Don't tell Peter Moore, but it looks like you can finally retire your old Dreamcast, because the game has been brought to Xbox 360 with all the great fighting action of the original, as well as updated HD graphics. The game's designed for local multiplayer, which is fine with me. I mean, really, what's the joy in putting the smackdown on your opponent if you can't see the pained look on their face when you take them down?
Practice for SoulCalibur IV by mastering the original. Wrapping UpWe're neck-deep in preparation for the E3 gaming show, which is coming up in less than two weeks. We'll have the whole Xbox.com crew on-site to bring you the latest in Xbox 360 gaming announcements as they happen. Stop by the This Week in Xbox feedback topic and let us know what you'd like to see us cover at the show, or just drop by and let us know what games you want to see tips for in future episodes of Insider Moves. |
