Aerosmith's "Dream On" Free for Limited Time

Published February 15, 2008

"Dream On" was the first major hit for the rock band Aerosmith, appearing on their debut self-titled album in 1973. And now, avid Guitar Hero™ III: Legends of Rock players will be able to try out their chops on the power ballad, by downloading it free of charge from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace. The song track will be free for a limited time only: Saturday, February 16, 2 A.M. PT (approximately) to Monday, February 18, 2 A.M. PT (approximately).

Aerosmith always comes ready to rock.

Aerosmith always comes ready to rock.

The song is a free download through the weekend in celebration of the upcoming Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith® game. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be the first music-based game to feature a single band, and gamers will be able to experience Aerosmith's GRAMMY® winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty.

Aerosmith

Aerosmith, consisting of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer, has sold over 150 million albums and racked up countless awards in a career that has helped to define rock music. Players in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will step into the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar), and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer.

The inimitable Steven Tyler says it best, "Any band that can go from 'Don't Want to Miss a Thing' to the ass-kicking 'Sweet Emotion' to the cheekiness of 'Love in an Elevator,' to the classic ballad 'Dream On' shows why Activision chose us to headline this game based on the diversity of the Aerosmith catalog. Not only is songwriting a bitch, but then it goes and has puppies."

Greatest Hits

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith players will be able to rock out to scores of Aerosmith's greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band's rise to fame. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is slated for release this June.

Until then, strap on the guitar and play "Dream On," one of Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Hurry up and download it, because after the weekend, the song goes back into the vault.
