It's no secret that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas™ offers a unique open-ended style of play. It's what the franchise is famous for. That said, it also means that level walkthroughs are of less value, as the missions are generally short and there are well over a hundred of them. With that in mind, I've compiled a list of a few troublesome missions in the first third of the game. They might seem difficult, but can be easily overcome with a helpful hint or two.
Sweet's Girl This little quest has given birth to many an angry exclamation, but approach it right and it's a piece of cake. If you don't have a gun when you get the mission, don't bother going to Emmits to get one. It takes too long, and poor Sweet's health meter is going down the entire time. Instead, grab the first car you find and drive down the road. Watch for larger vehicles such as an ambulance, truck, or big van. When you spot one, jump out, jack it, and head for Sweet's location. There you find a group of angry gang bangers peppering poor Sweet with gunfire. Don't get out of the car, just line up the enemies with your vehicle and mow them down. If you do it quickly, you waste every last one of them. Even if your vehicle catches fire, just stop close to the remaining thugs and let the resulting explosion blow them away.
Is there a meal on this flight?
Management Issues Your pal OG Loc is pissed about being badmouthed all over town by a famous manager. His solution is representative of his intellectual prowess: take out the manager. It's relatively easy if you make sure of the following:
Once you get the driver's car repainted, go against all your natural GTA inclinations and obey the traffic laws. Drive very safe! Follow the normal flow of traffic, and mind traffic lights so you don't get hit in the intersections. Just a little bit of damage and it's back to the Pay' N Spray!
All hell breaks loose when you pick up the manager and he realizes what you're up to. Ain't no big thing. Ignore the other two drivers trying to get to you. Instead, drive like a bat out of hell to the pier, ramp it up to maximum speed before you reach the end of the dock, and then press the Y button (after releasing the right trigger) to bail out at the last minute. The car launches into the drink and the mission is over. If the other cars followed you this far, drop into the water and swim away. They lose interest soon enough.
OG Loc Picking up OG Loc from prison and driving him to Freddy's joint is no great task, but the ensuing bike race can be difficult. During the race, most people try to take Freddy out at all costs, end up wrecking, and fail the mission because he gets too far ahead. Just follow him at a moderate pace—don't go crazy trying to keep up with him. Get close when you can, but only to make sure you know which side alley he turns in to. If you follow him long enough, he hops off his bike close to some rival gang members. Pedal your bike just a bit beyond and dismount with OG Loc at your side. From a safe distance advance slowly and take out enemies one at a time. Gun them all down to complete the mission.
Get in why don't ya?
Burning Desire Firebombing houses has never been so much fun! Make sure you have a gun before you head out. After picking up the Molotov cocktails, proceed to the house, but don't immediately start chucking them. Instead, make a slow circle of the house and take care of any straggling gang members. Stop and take a look around after firebombing each window. Gang members like to pop up, and if you're busy lining up your next toss, you'll likely get blown away.
Once you've set fire to the whole joint, you see a woman trapped inside the burning building. You need to save her. She's on the top floor, so go inside, find the stairs, and track her down on your radar. You find her trapped in a room that's blocked by a wall of fire. Run back down to the kitchen, grab the fire extinguisher, and hurry back upstairs. From this point on, the key is patience. It seems like you're in a hurry (after all, the house is falling apart around you), but in reality you have lots of time. Rush through and you'll likely catch yourself or the girl on fire and fail the mission. Instead, methodically remove every little flame that's in the way and you'll be fine.
There are dozens more missions, sub-missions, and even hidden challenges to keep CJ busy. With a landscape six times the size ofVice City, you'll never be at a loss for things to do inGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas as you cruise the city in your tricked-out pimpmobile.
