It's a long way to the top if you want to rule the city. Becoming the Godfather is no snap, but with some help from Prima Games, you can get a head start on the way to taking over the family.

Finances
Money is power, and if you don't have money coming in, it doesn't how tough you are, you won't be respected. So keep the cash coming in.

Heisting a racket truck will give you a nice chunk of change, but it can be a challenge. Try jacking a racket truck in front of one of your businesses, and watch Corleone soldiers come to your aid.

The more businesses you have extorted, the more scratch you'll have at the end of every week. Your financial week ends on Sunday, and you get your take after the family gets theirs. Raise your standing in the family to lower the Corleone's take of your money. Buying out a racket automatically maxes your take, so you don't have to mess around with extorting the business owner. It's a bigger challenge, but the take is worth it.

If you're short on cash, feel free to leave your gangster standing on a corner and let the game run. A week takes only 84 minutes of game time, and your cash will build up quickly. If you don't have an hour and 24 minutes to spare, leave your system on overnight and come back to a small fortune!

Destruction
Sometimes negotiation isn't enough. Tom Hagen will always encourage you to negotiate, but there's nothing Sonny likes better than going to war. If you follow his tactics, follow these tips.

The easiest way to destroy a business isn't to blow it up with a bomb, but to shoot out the windows and firebomb it from outside. You'll get the same results with a lot less effort.

If you're ready to start a mob war, find a black market merchant and stock up on bombs beforehand. Destroying the opposing family's businesses can end a war quickly, so don't waste your time shopping while the clock is ticking.

Combat
Whether you like it or not, sometimes you have to settle matters the hard way, with your fists, or a pipe, or some hot lead. Keep your wits about you, and know where your resources are.

There's nothing worse than running out of health in the middle of a fire fight. Leave a skill point or two unallocated, and you can use them as an impromptu health pack when you need it most. If you're almost dead, use your skill point in health, and you'll not only expand your hit points, but you'll get a full health meter as well!

Always buy Level 2 weapon upgrades before you make the jump to Level 3. The price is much lower, and includes 7500 respect points you'd miss out on otherwise. Start saving for Level 3, but don't skip the steps along the way.
