New Maps Ahoy!
By Ben Barker
The Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series has been one of the cornerstones of Xbox Live™, consistently giving gamers gritty squad-based military action. (This is not to be confused with the squad-based counterterrorism of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® 3, though it’s proved immensely successful on XboxLive as well.)
And, now, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon™: Island Thunder™—one of the best values on XboxLive, a steal for around $30—is an even better deal with the release of five new multiplayer and mission maps. Don’t miss these free Xbox Live downloads!

Aurora is a multipurpose multiplayer map.
Aurora
The hazy, lazy sunset lighting of the Aurora map makes spotting foes especially tricky. You’ve also got a lot of wide-open spaces to cross. These spaces are dotted with small buildings, and you just know they’re going to contain people who don’t like you … and they’ll have guns.

Enemies snipe from behind this building.
Riverbed
Riverbed is a smaller mission-based multiplayer map centered around a network of low desert canyons. It’s not hard to find a nice little sniper’s nest in the surrounding hills, but every time you move, you’re going to be pretty easy to spot.

Don’t walk down the middle of the Riverbed.
Road Block
Can you hold the Road Block? This is the only Island Thunder downloadable map with the same name as a G.I. Joe character. It presents numerous intriguing scenarios in co-op or competitive play.

Protect the UN peacekeepers—polite or not.
Tank
This new map gives you co-op or straight-up combat in a desert setting. It also provides all sorts of battlefield wreckage for cover.

The aptly named Tank map has tanks in it.
Ruins
After you download the Ruins map for Ghost Recon: Island Thunder, you may not see the Ruins map in the list of available maps. The Ruins map is only available for the Solo match type. You cannot use the Ruins map for Team or Cooperative match types.

The Ruins map is co-op free.
