Rock Band All-Nighter Recap

Published March 14, 2008

The Rock Band™ All-Nighter went together guitar-smashingly well. We got tons of responses from the community. Hope you had a good time!

Rock Band

Setting up for the big event.

My siblings and I got together this weekend to celebrate my brother's 35th birthday. Most of our kids were here as well. We played for about two hours. Some, like Max (ChomboMann) played on Expert while the new players stuck to Easy. My brother was, unfortunately, suffering from a kidney stone and was on some pretty powerful pain killers. In spite of that, he was able to hit 100% on "Creep" by Radiohead the first time he tried.

Our lead singer was on drugs …

We felt like a real Rock Band.

It was so much fun they almost passed a kidney stone.

Oh man, this weekend was very fun and very tiring. My friend Aaron and I went up to Columbus to his brother's house and we decided to knock out the endless song set list. On our first attempt with K Breezy012 (me, Kevin) on drums and ShiftyDust (Corey) on guitar, and Aaron on bass we started out strong but started late … like 4:30 A.M. and after a little rest of more than six hours, my Xbox® did what it's supposed to do, and shut off after getting half way done. The next day, after some motivation, rest, food, and catching our second wind, we decided we will get through it no matter what, so we all restarted, and after many, many hours, we finally beat it on Expert across the board only failing twice. It was worth making the trip to Columbus, and the day I will waste away catching up on sleep. Thanks Xbox for giving us an excuse to play all night and get out of being called losers from our girls.

Thanks for hosting this! I love the game and this was just an excuse for me to play all night (not that I needed one)! My band got tired pretty early so I did solo until about 3:30 A.M. I'm usually a vocalist so I hadn't picked up the other instruments. Since guitar is the quietest of the instruments, I picked it up and found a whole new purpose in the game! Made some more friends and had a blast! Thanks!

Here's the lowdown on our local Rock Band All-Nighter event. This was the first Xbox All-Nighter event we have ever participated in, and we had an awesome time! Before I get into the details of the party, I wanted to express my excitement about how easy it was to participate. I sent a friend request to I KmaC I and Greenskull, and I was elated to get responses back from both of them right away! So I'd like to give them a big kudos for their commitment to making this such a fun event. You have some awesome people volunteering as Xbox Ambassadors.

We had arranged for a large turnout with two full bands, and we were going to have a mega Rock Band event. Unfortunately the turnout was lower than anticipated. An unexpected snowstorm blew into town discouraging many. So only the heartiest of gamers made it out last night for our memorable night of fun! We started playing about 8 A.M. last night and ended the festivities at 4:30 A.M. The goal was to play until we could see the sun coming up over the horizon. Among the drunken merriment and just plain getting into the game we rocked out hard and burned out fast. However we did get to do what we set out to do and that is to participate in last night's events. We joined a game with I KmaC I and rocked out with him for a few songs. Of course, all good things must come to an end …

Wow! Last night was a party. I got on and all my friends were on Rock Band. We partied it up till 5 A.M. and then fell asleep. That was definitely one of the best Xbox All-Nighters ever! Thanks for hosting it.

I started hosting games at 4 P.M. Eastern. There were a few guys here and there that joined. While playing with three other people, my Internet messed up! What a bad time! Finally, I got it fixed. By then it was around 9 P.M. I KmaC I signed on, and I invited him to a private chat. We decided to team up for the event, inviting two people at a time. The friend requests started pouring in. It seemed everyone wanted to play! Less than five minutes after I made a room, someone always sent me a friend request. I labeled this phenomenon "Whammying" from the game show Whammy. We imagined people constantly sending me friend requests until a space opened up while chanting, "C'mon, big bucks big bucks, no whammys, STOP!" Overall, the night was extremely fun, and I made a ton of new friends! I'll definitely be at the next All-Nighter!

Overall this Rock Band All-Nighter was eventful, and fun. The night started out with me trying to get into Greenskull's band and I ended up playing with him, I KmaC I, and Club 108 for roughly an hour. We then had trouble staying together because Greenskull and I Kmac I were both getting an insane amount of friend requests and had to play with other people. I tried to round up a few of my friends to start a band, but some were already in other bands playing songs, so I went solo for a little while. I then had a friend get on who was playing solo as well, so I invited him into a band where we played guitar and bass on and off for a little. He got tired and had to go, so I played a few more songs and then got off as well.

The guitarist in pink pants is about to lay down a serious riff.

What a great time I had playing Rock Band with the Xbox Live Ambassadors! Folks like PMS Harlequin, I KmaC I and Greenskull, were the first "bandmates" to rock out with me on Saturday. They were fun, and the gameplay was EPIC! Hopefully, I'll get to play with the others I've invited (ethanjude and xKarateLincoln), and the other Ambassadors tomorrow! Thanks all (especially the great little 4-year-old singer at Harlequin's).

Are these the Fab Four?

The Rock Band All-Nighter was awesome. I had a lot of fun rocking on the drums, while Greenskull and I KmaC I were rocking it on the guitar. I'm still pumped for another one of these after staying up all night. Rock on!

Playing with I KmaC I and Greenskull was very fun. They both were funny. I was the singer and they were guitarists. Green was always guitar and KmaC was bass. I could hear them through the TV singing along with me. It was a memorable experience. They were both very skilled at guitar. They played on Expert and always hit over 95%. It was a great time, I hope to play with them again sooner or later. As for the Rock Band All-Nighter, Xbox should hold it more often.

This event was pretty cool, considering the fact that I was able to play some Xbox Ambassadors, mainly Greenskull and I KmaC I. In the end, I truly felt what Rock Band really was. But not only did I manage to wake up in pain after this, I know what to do if that were to happen again. Get some soda, pick up your instrument, and play until you really don't feel like playing. Then you know it's time to fall asleep for a good few hours. I really enjoyed the event and hope to participate in another upcoming event. Thanks, you guys!

Rock Band in action.

The Rock Band All-Nighter was a lot of fun. I got together with a couple of my friends and we rocked out late into the night! The game is just sooo much fun to play with everyone jamming out to the same song. Even if you're not the best player, and you're only on Easy, it's still a lot of fun to play a game to such cool songs.
