GamerSpeak:Gears of War All-Nighter
Published June 13, 2007 The most recent Xbox All-Nighter took place on Armed Forces Day and featured Gears of War®. We got a lot of great e-mails recapping the experience. Here's a sample: As a member of the U.S. Navy, when I saw a Gears of War All-Nighter scheduled for Saturday night, I cleared my schedule and told my military buddies that this was an opportunity we could not miss. I started out the night early for a quick warmup before my friends got online. Soon I met up with armymp9896 and tons of others for a night we will not soon forget. It's great how friends can meet up for a good time like this even though we are thousands of miles apart. I only wish I didn't have to work so early on Sunday so that I could have played until the sun came up!
I M4k I had a blast in the recent All-Nighter. Well first, my friends and I knew it was gonna be sick being up all night, playing Gears, and being able to write to you guys. We usually do this every Saturday. My friends and I went out and got five Full Throttle energy drinks each, and played Ranked Player. I helped my friend beat acts three through five in Insane mode. It was definitely sick. I hope to do it again. Thanks Microsoft again and thanks to the Gears of War team. Hope to do it again. Let me just say Gears of War on a Saturday Night with a group of friends is the thing to do. It was 2 on 2 all night from 8 P.M. to 4 A.M. The battle was long and hard. Wishfulchantico and Iggnacio led the team of Locust while abstraksunshine and Jay Z lead the Cog defense. Soon the night was over before we realized it. Gears of War is the best game ever! It all started when I got home from work. I powered up the Elite, grabbed the controller and headphone set, and played all night on multiplayer. I owned kids all night! I went from map to map running through anybody that stood in my way. Kids were quitting left and right from getting owned so bad. My girlfriend was not pleased that I played all night because I kind of ignored her. LOL. I met a chap from the UK and we traded regional pleasantries while shotgun blasting as many people as we could. It was the first time I've really connected with someone over a video game headset and it was thanks to Gears and Xbox®. By the way, he once again cleared up that it is us (Americans) who speak "his" language, so don't ask him to speak English.
Whose language is it again? Hey, I'm SBGxFatBeaverx and I just wanted to tell you how much fun I had last night. You guys are the greatest. I love how you guys do so much to keep the Gears of War spirit going, and how much you work to set stuff up like the All-Nighters. We played from like 10:30 P.M. all the way to 7:00 A.M. Enox927 came from Rhode Island just for this MAIN EVENT, LOL. We played all night. I ended up sleeping on the couch and enox927 slept in my computer chair. It was crazy. Unfortunately, we were too drunk to find my digital camera. It was great! I got the game on launch day but I never really played it all that much before. But I figured that it might be fun to do this All-Nighter. I found a friend of mine online who I hadn't played with since last year (FoamyX). I joined his match and it was like we never stopped playing with each other. We were having so much fun just joking around with each other and we were dominating the show. This was my first All-Nighter, and I have to admit it was awesome. I was playing Annex, and my team won every round. The All-Nighter helped me to make new friends and overall, gain some skill. I had to keep slapping myself to stay awake. My team was the best team ever. We were good, communicated, and used teamwork. I played for as long as possible and man, was I tired. This All-Nighter is going to be one out of many for me.
When you stay up all night, you might run into these guys. I just want to thank you over at Xbox for setting up these All-Nighters. I, as an online gamer, really appreciate these chances to play with such amazingly talented people all night long. I was part of the Halo® 2 All-Nighter last month and it was wonderful. Thank you all so much. I'm 13, and was up for the All-Nighter. I had some friends over and my neighbors called and were yelling at us because they could see the light from my TV, and asked us if we would turn it off. I said OK but 10 minutes later, I was back to playing. The almost weekly ritual of playing Gears of War all night now almost has a purpose. We were even more driven then usual to play as late as we possibly could, knowing that large numbers of people were in fact doing the same ridiculous thing we were. As usual, we set up three TVs with Gears of War, and went through every map at least three times before the night was over. Despite what the others might say, I'm fairly sure I managed to come out on top. My two other teammates and three opponents just couldn't compete with the accuracy of my sniper or the quickness of my chainsaw. Gears of War just friggin' rocks! |
