Gaming With Brady Quinn

Fatty Chubs, an Xbox® MVP and half the brains behind 360voice.com went to Arizona to game with Brady Quinn. Here's what he had to say:

I recently got a chance to sit down with Brady Quinn to talk Xbox 360™ and do a little gaming. Not sure what to expect, I knew he was busy training for the NFL, so I didn't figure him as much of a gamer. Measuring up the competition, I asked what games he had been playing. He and his friends have been playing a good amount of EA SPORTS™ Fight Night Round 3, Madden NFL 07, and dabbled in a bit of Gears of War®.

When we finally got the chance to play, I gave him the choice, figuring I had a pretty good chance at all of them. He chose Fight Night, which seemed like equal ground. The deck was quickly stacked against me though, as he chose Muhammad Ali, and slyly suggested I take Joe Fraser. I knew it was a bit of a mismatch, but I was hoping the full day workout might have slowed him down a bit, so I accepted the challenge. While the game loaded I gave him tips like "work the body" and "block, if you can."

Playing in the limelight.

Playing in the limelight.

A few seconds in, I learned he plays games as ruthlessly as he plays on the football field. At least he took my suggestion and "worked the body" as I took what seemed like an unending barrage of punches to the midsection, very few of which I was able to block before going down hard. I guess I was a little rusty! A couple rounds in and after my third time hitting the mat, I realized I might have underestimated him a bit, and the practice with his friends had paid off. In the end I felt like I should be forced to relinquish to him the 1000 gamerscore I earned in the game, as he beat me pretty easily.

Afterwards I challenged him to a game of Gears of War hoping to save face and pay him back with a curb stomp, but we ran out of time. So I had to take my defeat graciously and let him get back to training. I had a really great time though. He proved to not only be a decent gamer, but a friendly and gracious competitor. Although he better watch out, I will be on the lookout for a rematch over Xbox Live®. And remember, if you do go up against him in Game with Fame, don't underestimate him as a gamer.
