The Games of E3

Now that E3 2006 is over, we asked Xbox Live members in the Xbox.com forums their opinion on the game news. Here's a sample of the responses.

"In terms of games, Viva Piñata™ surprised me very positively. I can't wait to have my own garden to raise them. However, the shooters are the big thing once again without a doubt. Great stuff coming out soon and I want them all (Halo® 3, Gears of War®, Too Human™, etc)."

"I've followed Halo since it was announced at Mac World '99, and I am more than excited about the next and final installment in the trilogy. The graphics are truly next-gen, the music is amazing, the location looks stunning, and I cannot wait to "Finish the Fight" in 2007.

Fable® was a pretty amazing game, but Fable® 2 looks so much better. We will have new weapons, new support for Xbox Live®, and it looks like we will be able to choose our destiny once again … in the next generation."

"As much as I'd love to dismiss Viva Piñata as a 'kiddies' game, I can't help feel that despite not even really sure what a 'Piñata' really is (not really big in England I guess, or I'm really uncultured!), it seems like that certain game that may just tap into everyone's mind, young or old."

"The two games i am excited about are Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto IV. Even though I am a big Halo fan, I think the innovation that GTA 4 can bring outweighs my Halo 3 dreams. Even though not so much as a picture has been released, I believe that Rockstar teamed with Microsoft Game Studios can make a game that has gigantic maps with stunning detail, maybe even good MULTIPLAYER, (wink, wink)."

"I was mighty impressed with the range already playable software heading our way in the coming months, and on through '07. Titles like Gears of War, Mass Effect™, Too Human and ChromeHounds™ were just a few of the definite show stoppers, and of course the Halo 3 trailer blew the roof off the house of anticipation. Other titles that I'm really looking forward too were Capcom's Dead Rising™, LucasArts' LEGO® Star Wars® Trilogy and Rare/Microsoft's exotic, Viva Pinata, which may look like a game aimed at kids, but most of the adults I spoke with went ga-ga over the trailer!"

"I am most excited about Halo 3. The trailer was amazingly beautiful and made me want to play it then. I'm told that the trailer was made on the actual game engine. Master Chief looks so cool on Xbox 360™! I was really surprised at how Gears of War is looking. The demo Cliffy B showed off was amazing! The graphics and gameplay both look top-notch. I am really impressed at how the game is shaping up and can't wait to get my hands on it."
