When there's only seconds left on the clock, the crowd is screaming for blood, and your left eye is swelling shut, it's good to know you have someone on your side. Prima Games is always in your corner though, and they'll help you dominate the competition with these exclusive tips from the EA SPORTS™ Fight Night Round 3 Prima Games Guide.

Strategy and Health Management
The momentum in Round 3 is vital, so if you're just getting the hang of the game, turn on the HUD in the settings menu. It will help you know the best time to make your move. It will help you understand the rates at which you lose and regain life.

Always play head games in the ring. Keep your opponent on his toes by switching your stance or by head faking. You can perform an effective head fake by pulling the right stick back slightly as if to deliver a hook or an uppercut. Don't follow through, but rather throw a punch with the opposite hand when your opponent moves to parry.

Switching stances can be an effective strategy other than just keeping your opponent off balance. If you open up a cut on the right side of their face, changing your stance to southpaw will allow you to target the cut with quick, stinging jabs.

Punching Tactics
The ideal combo should be several punches in quick succession, but a successful combo is not just speed alone. If you land any one of your punches without it being dodged, blocked, or parried, you can consider your combo a success.

Remember Cassius Clay's (later Muhammad Ali's) phantom punch? It looked like he was retreating into the ropes as Sonny Liston moved in for the attack. Suddenly Ali leaned back, avoided the jab, and bobbed forward with a stiff right to Liston's chin, dropping him with a single blow. Liston was no slouch, either. Moving back may seem like a retreat, but it can be an excellent move to gain a tactical advantage. Liston's own momentum met with Clay's fist for a devastating attack. Lead your opponent, draw him to you, and use his strength against him.

Time a dodge and strike properly to drop your opponent.

Be wise when using your special punches. The impact punches in particular can drain your energy quickly, leaving you completely vulnerable. Like Flash KOs or the EA SPORTS Haymaker, the Stun Punch is best used as a counterattack, not as a link in a combination. These brutal shots will leave you vulnerable, so be careful.

You should only consider illegal blows the last refuge of a cowardly fighter. However, there will be times when you will be that boxer. You might have to resort to an illegal punch at some point. If you do use them, do so sparingly and only to gain a temporary edge. Deliver an illegal punch to cut off a good-sized chunk of health, and then follow up with a legitimate combo.

Don't always wait for a parry to launch your counterattack. If you successfully dodge an attack with a bob or weave, simply return with a blow of your own.
