Team Spirit
Take a beloved college team and make it great, or build one of your own from scratch. Whether you want to play in the "real" world or in a world of your own creation, you make all the calls. This game has a number of modes, each designed to give you a different view on the games you play. In the Quick Game mode, you dive in feet first and dunk it quick and dirty. This mode exists for players who don't want to do anything more than burn some rubber on the court. You control the action—not from the sidelines, but from the line itself.

Your playbook has an important role in the game. Even in Quick Game mode, you use it to call plays on the court. It becomes even more critical when you play in Coach mode. You never step onto the court in Coach mode, but remain on the sidelines. You set up your playbook and call the plays. Your players make them happen. This removes you by one step from the action, but gives you an insider's look into the strategy and challenge of coaching.

Fight Song
In Pontiac Tournament mode, choose from a number of different tournaments. Play in one of the many conference tournaments or step up to the NCAA® Championship. Customize the tournament. Change the rules. Play to your own specifications.

Legacy mode provides the meatiest gameplay. Play in either Career or Open modes. Create a coach and build a winning team from the bottom up. You have a number of ways you can improve your team's chances of winning, including careful recruiting and even spending some time in coach training. You set your recruiting priorities, establish your offensive playbook and determine your primary, secondary, and pressure defensive strategies. These are the main tools you have in your coach's kit.

Some of the great options include the Skeeters, the Norsemen,
and the Luchadores, all with equally entertaining logos.

Cheerleaders and Mascots
Most elements of the game are customizable. In the Management mode, you mold everything to your specs. Set how the coach looks, what he wears, and how his personality makes him behave. Create a new player, name him, and determine his physique. Make him a five-foot jackrabbit or a seven-foot jooch. Give him skills or the lack thereof. Grant him a scholarship, if you like.

Next, build a school for him to attend. Choose the university's name, nickname, colors, and mascot. Some of the great options include the Skeeters, the Norsemen, and the Luchadores, all with equally entertaining logos. Set your college's fight song and design its arena. Heck, you even get some control over the cheerleaders' uniforms, both male and female. But don't get too excited. They have to wear uniforms.

Online Slam Dunk
Once you've got everything designed as you like it, take it online and pit your team against your peers on Xbox Live®. Play in both leagues and tournaments. A couple features make your online experience fun and friendly, including the ability to skip games and come back to them later when your league opponent cancels on you. Make the game up at your convenience. In addition, your results appear on the 2K Sports Web site where you can register your own league, create a league homepage, and check the leaderboards.

All in all, College Hoops 2K6 for Xbox 360 promises to rise to the occasion in the final hours of March, picking up the pass and taking it all the way for the score.
