COMMON TERMS USED IN THESE RULES:
These are the official rules that govern how the Microsoft Call of Duty: World at War Play & Win Prize Draw promotion will operate. This promotion will be simply referred to as the "Prize Draw" throughout the rest of these rules.
In these rules, "we," "our," and "us" refer to Microsoft Corporation, the sponsor of the Prize Draw. "You" refers to an eligible Prize Draw entrant.
1. START AND END DATES
This Promotion Period begins at 12:01 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) on March 19, 2009, and ends at 11:59 P.M. ET on March 22, 2009 ("Promotion Period").
2. CAN I ENTER?
You are eligible to enter this Prize Draw if you meet the following requirements at time of entry:
- You are a legal resident of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia) or Canada (excluding Quebec), and you are 18 years or older. If you are 18 years of age or older, but are considered a minor in your place of residence, you should ask your parent's or legal guardian's permission prior to submitting an entry in this Prize Draw; and
- You are NOT an employee of Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft Canada, Co., an employee of any Microsoft subsidiary, or GMR Marketing LLC; and
- You are NOT involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw; and
- You are NOT an immediate family (defined as parent, sibling, spouse, child regardless of where they live) or household member of a Microsoft employee, an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw.
This Prize Draw is void outside the geographic area identified above and wherever else prohibited by law.
3. HOW DO I ENTER?
There are two ways to enter: online or via mail
To enter online, you must have access to an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, the Call of Duty: World at War video game ("Game"), and an Xbox LIVE Gold membership in good standing. Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you must do all of the following:
Register
To register, you must download the free "Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack One" Registration Gamer Picture ("Gamer Picture"). There are two (2) ways to download the Gamer Picture: by accessing Marketplace on the Web using a PC or by accessing the Xbox LIVE Marketplace using an Xbox 360 console.
To download the Gamer Picture via Marketplace on the Web, you must do the following:
- Navigate to Xbox LIVE Event Registrations
- Select "Call of Duty: World at War" from the list of available content and select "Download to Xbox 360"
- Select "Confirm" on the Confirm Purchase window.
- Players will see a "Congratulations! This item has been purchased and added to your download queue" message.
To download the Gamer Picture via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, you must do the following:
- Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Game Marketplace,
- Select "Explore Game Content",
- Browse to the "Themes & Gamer Pictures" channel,
- Select "Browse",
- Under Title, Select "X",
- Select "Xbox LIVE Event Registrations",
- Select "Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack One Registration" from the list of available content and select "Confirm Download".
Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download, Players will see a "Call of Duty: World at War Registration downloaded" message. NOTE: Users may also access the free Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack One Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Events Channel in the Xbox LIVE dashboard.
You must register for the Prize Draw using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to download eligible Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack One game add-on content, described below, during the Promotion Period, and to play Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer (co-op) sessions on the Xbox LIVE service during the Promotion Period. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE gamer profile information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current. You can update your gamer profile information as described below.
Updating Account Information (example for e-mail):
You can verify/update your profile information via your account profile on Xbox.com or through the Xbox Dashboard:
From the Xbox Dashboard:
- From the Xbox Dashboard, select "My Xbox" Channel.
- Select your Gamercard.
- Select "Manage Account".
- Select "Contact Information".
- Enter your account e-mail and password, and then select "Sign In".
- E-mail address is located on the Contact Information screen.
Via Xbox.com:
- Go to http://live.xbox.com/en-US/default.aspx.
- Sign in to Xbox using your Windows Live ID account email and password.
- Select "Manage Profile" on your "My Xbox" Home Page.
- Select "Billing and Contact Information".
- Update your Profile Information and then select "Save".
Earn Entries
Provided you have registered for this Prize Draw, as described above, you can earn entries vie Entry Method 1 and Entry Method 2 as follows:
Entry Method 1
You will automatically receive one (1) entry when you log into the Xbox LIVE service and download the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack One game add-on content. Limit one (1) entry per person via Entry Method 1.
Entry Method 2
You will automatically receive one (1) entry when you log into the Xbox LIVE service and play a Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer session. Limit one (1) entry per person via Entry Method 2.
To enter by mail without registering online or playing the Game, hand-print your first and last name, address, city, state/province, ZIP code/postal code, phone number and e-mail address (if any) on a 3x5" piece of paper and mail it to:

Mail-in entry (ies) must be postmarked by Monday, March 23, 2009, and received by Monday, March 30, 2009, to be eligible. Limit one (1) entry per outer mailing envelope.
ENTRY LIMIT: LIMIT TWO (2) ENTRIES PER PERSON, REGARDLESS OF ENTRY METHOD. Entries from the same individual or e-mail or household address received in excess of the limits stated herein will be automatically disqualified.
The use of automated devices to enter this Prize Draw is prohibited. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, postage due or illegible entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become Microsoft's property and will not be returned.
We will automatically disqualify:
- Any incomplete or illegible entry; OR
- Any entries that we receive from you that are in excess of the entry limit described above.
4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION; PRIZES:
On or around April 20, 2009, we will select twelve (12) potential First Prize Winners, four (4) potential Second Prize Winners, twenty (20) potential Third Prize Winners, twenty-five (25) potential Fourth Prize Winners, and four (4) potential Grand Prize Winners from among all eligible entries received.
Twenty-five (25) Fourth Prizes available. A swag pack consisting of Call of Duty: World at War branded items: T-shirt, Playing cards, Duffle bag.

The total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of all prizes: $18,074.52 USD
We will only award one (1) prize per person during the Entry Period.
If you are selected as a potential winner:
- You may not exchange your prize for cash or any other merchandise or services;
- You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we will award it to an alternate potential winner;
- If you accept a prize, you will be responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize, if any;
- And are a minor (being under the age of majority) in your place of residence we may award the prize to your parent/legal guardian on your behalf; and
- Unless otherwise noted, all prizes are subject to their manufacturer's warranty and / or terms and conditions.
If you are a potential winner, we will notify you by sending a message to the e-mail address, the phone number, or mailing address (if any) listed on your entry within seven (7) days following the random drawing. If the notification that we send is returned as undeliverable, or you are otherwise unreachable for any reason, we may award the prize to an alternate randomly selected winner.
If there is a dispute as to who is the potential winner, we will consider the potential winner to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter the Prize Draw, or the person residing at the mailing address listed on your mail-in entry.
If you are a potential winner, we may require you to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Mutually-Agreeable Liability Release, Publicity Release and W-9 or W8-BEN tax form. If you are a potential winner and if you are a minor in your state/province of residence, we may require your parent or legal guardian to sign all required forms on your behalf. If you do not complete the required forms as instructed and/or return the required forms within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may disqualify you and select an alternate winner.
For Canadian Residents: If you are a potential winner you (or your parent/legal guardian, if applicable) will be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by either telephone or email. If you (or your parent/legal guardian, if applicable) answer the skill-testing question incorrectly, as determined by us in our sole discretion, you will be disqualified and, at our discretion, an alternate winner shall be chosen from among all remaining eligible entries.
5. WHAT ARE MY ODDS OF WINNING?
Your odds of winning this Prize Draw depend on the number of eligible entries we receive.
6. WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS AM I AGREEING TO BY ENTERING THIS PRIZE DRAW?
By entering this Prize Draw you agree:
- To abide by these Official Rules;
- To the extent allowable under applicable law, to release and hold harmless Microsoft, GMR Marketing LLC and its respective advertising and promotional agencies and Prize Draw judging organization, the parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, representatives, successors, assigns and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Prize Draw or any prize won;
- That Microsoft's decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Prize Draw; and
- That by accepting a prize, Microsoft may use your name and place of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Prize Draw, without payment or compensation to you.
7. WHAT LAWS GOVERN THE WAY THIS PRIZE DRAW IS EXECUTED AND ADMINISTRATED?
This Prize Draw will be governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the State of Washington for any disputes arising out of this Prize Draw.
8. WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE PRIZE DRAW CAN'T RUN AS PLANNED?
If cheating, a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also referred to as force majeure) affects the fairness and / or integrity of this Prize Draw, we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Prize Draw, This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If a solution cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Prize Draw, we reserve the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Prize Draw.
If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Prize Draw by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by law. Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Prize Draws, so please play fairly.
9. HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHO WON?
The names of the winners will be posted online on or around Monday, April 27, 2009, at: http://www.xbox.com/winners, and this list will remain posted for at least thirty (30) days.
