Comrade Sniper

The end is nigh, dear brother. I can almost taste the vodka on my tongue. Once we repel the filthy invaders from City Hall, our work here is done.

Take a deep breath and savor this quiet moment, comrade, for the next minutes will be the longest of your life …

Welcome back to our in-depth Fortress Stalingrad guide for Call of Duty® 2. Here we cover the third, and most difficult, part: Comrade Sniper.

Objectives
Your main objectives are:

1. Eliminate the sniper.
2. Secure City Hall.
3. Hold the position.

Headshot
Following your victorious push to City Hall, you soon realize that your job isn't over yet. You and your men are hunkered down in the remains of a building that's barely standing. Across the snow-covered field, a string of crumbling structures conceals a wily sniper.

A comrade draws the sharpshooter's fire with his helmet. Keep your eyes peeled and located the mobile gunner in the opposite building. He's likely on the second floor, but he won't stay put for long. His tactic is to line up a shot, fire at your squad, and then move to another vantage point.

Use your binoculars or sniper scope to pinpoint his location. Steady your aim and take him out before he kills you or any of your men. Once you've killed him, it's time to move on.

Secure City Hall
Exit the area where you just sniped the Nazi and move from room to room, eliminating every enemy you encounter. Hold onto the sniper rifle if you can, as it comes in handy later in the level. Dodge enemy grenades and secure the building. Your fellow troops let you know when it's time to move on. Grab the Panzershrek when you find it.

Stand Your Ground
You have to ward off several waves of incoming troops before the entire area is cleared. Expect heavy resistance from snipers, machine gunners, 'nade tossers, and even a halftrack, all trying to put an end to your standoff. Pick your perch and methodically take out the opposing soldiers. Be sure to whack snipers and machine gunners first, as they can quickly destroy your effort.

When the halftrack makes its appearance, find a safe vantage point and let a rocket fly. If you aim with care, one solid hit should do the trick. Spend the rest of the fight mopping up the remaining soldiers. Remember to take cover for a few seconds to heal if you catch a bullet.

After a few sporadic skirmishes, you'll have beaten the last of the Nazi forces. Kick back and relax—you've just finished the Russian campaign! But the war's not over yet. When next you take up arms, you'll be whisked away to Africa for even more hectic gunfights. Stay sharp, soldier, and good luck!
