Beating the Blinx Bosses

By Sylvia di Corvino

The time controls give you a real advantage when dealing with some of the boss monsters in Blinx: The Time Sweeper. But what do you do if you run out of time controls, and that nasty time beast is still madly bouncing around causing havoc? Well, thanks to a few insider folks, we were able to track down some strategies for you.

General Advice
When fighting any of the bosses, use your time controls for maximum benefit! Not only will the Pause and Slo-Mo controls help you out by giving you openings to attack, but you can use Record to distractthe bosswith one Blinx while you attack with the other.

Stage 1: Time Square
You face the boss known as the Dust Keeper. It's got a total of four hit points, and it attacks by tossing trash at you. The Dust Keeper's weak point is between tosses. That's your chance to strike!

Stage 2: Déjà vu Canals
The Kerogon. You've already met lesser-powered versions of this hopping menace. This boss has three hit points, less than the previous boss, but that doesn't make the Kerogon any easier to beat. It likes to spit trash, tackle, and will swallow any trash you shoot at its face. Thankfully, this boss has two weak points for when you're out of time controls:

  1. Bash it from behind. If the Kerogon can't see you, it won't swallow what you shoot at it.
  2. This boss moves slower when it's eating trash, giving you a window to scoot around and shoot its back.

Stage 3: Hourglass Caves
The Molesaur. This boss has three hit points and a knack for biting. The trick to the Molesaur? Hop onto one of the big rocks. When the boss opens his mouth and begins to swallow the boulder, jump off and shoot him! If you miss him, use Rewind to get him to reappear.

Stage 4: Forgotten City
The Dust King. This baddie has five hit points and two different phases of attack. In the first phase, this boss tosses trash, and in the second, it tackles. But don't fret! This boss is not invincible. The Dust King will bounce around in his first phase.Wait for him to stop and look around, then you can let him have it.In the second phase, he'll try to pound you again and again. Keep moving! If you avoid his attacks long enough, the Dust King will become dizzy and have to stop chasing you for a moment. This is the time to attack!

Stage 5: Temple of Lost Time
The Juggernaut. Another large boss at five hit points, this monster has an unusual spinning attack. Watch out for the small balls, as they join the spinning attack and like to tackle. If the bouncing balls get too close, fire trash at them. Not only will they disappear, they'll leave you time crystals too! To take down this boss, wait until the Juggernaut returns to "human" form right after its spinning attack. Strike then!

Stage 6: Mine of Precious Moments
The Kerogonagain, but at a much more powerful six-hit-point level. To make things worse, this boss also has an additional attack phase.

  1. First phase: The Kerogon spits trash, tackles, swallows trash, and—yikes!—destroys ground.
  2. Second phase: The Kerogon adds fast-speed tackling to its arsenal of attacks. Your strategy, however, is the same. Shoot the Kerogon from behind, scooting behind the boss while it's eating trash.

This level is littered with 4 of every time crystal. Pick these up in hands of 4 while dodging the boss to gain a 10 time control advantage!

Stage 7: Everwinter
The Hydrosaur, at a monstrous eight hit points. This boss also has two phased attacks. The first is limited to biting and tossing trash. After only two strikes, however, this boss moves into its second phase, adding an air attack and a ice-destroying attack. If at all possible, save up extra time controls for this monster and shoot when it peeks. Otherwise, get onto a big pipe and shoot when the Hydrosaur eats the pipe.

Stage 8: Forge of Hours
The Juggernaut is back, meaner and stronger than before. At eight hit points, this boss has a whopping four phases of attack. It likes to use bombs and a rolling ball attack to take Blinx out.In addition, the Juggernaut can send out small bouncing balls to hit Blinx or change the movement and speed of the platforms Blinx is standing on! Yes, the Juggernaut does have a weak point, though it's slightly different than before. When all the small balls are defeated, the boss returns to "human" form and you can bash the monster then.

Stage 9: Momentopolis
Now, I'd help you on this last level, but I think it would spoil too much of your fun. If you find yourself really, really stuck, check out theBlinx Strategy Guide. Two hints I will give you, though: Be sure to replay later stages like 1-2 and 2-2 to build up time crystals and gold for later levels, and use rewind on slot machines and treasure chests that have gold. After you pick up the booty, rewind time and the gold will reappear for you to collect again!

If you've found other methods, be sure to share them with your fellow time sweepers in the forums.
