Aerial Combat
When shooting down enemy bombers, aim for the engine nacelles. The engines have less armor, so hitting these weak points will bring down the bomber faster than shooting at the fuselage.

Use the right bomber for the job. Dive bombers work great against destroyers and carriers, while torpedo bombers are better for sinking cruisers and battleships.

If your enemy has bombers, be sure to keep some fighters in the air to protect your base or your main ships.

When sending bombers after a target, keep your squadrons together. Order them to fly to a single point on the map after they launch. Then when all arrive, send them all after the target. This will overwhelm the defenses and allow some of your bombers to get through.

You do not need bombs to sink cargo ships. Strafe them with your aircraft's machine guns to send these ships to the bottom. Most fighters can also carry light bomb loads, which are sufficient for sinking destroyers.

Position your Combat Air Patrols at a distance from your carriers to they have time to shoot down enemy bombers before they can deliver their payloads.

Naval Combat
When controlling destroyers and some Japanese cruisers, don't forget to launch torpedoes at enemy ships. You may not get a hit, but it will force the enemy into maneuvers to avoid your torpedoes.

When firing artillery at long-range naval targets, remember to lead your target. It can take several seconds for the shell to travel a naval mile, so aim at where you expect the target to be, not where it is when you fire.

When faced with several serious targets at once, such as aircraft carriers, focus on one at a time. When one is destroyed you can focus on the next target.

When commanding a ship, make an effort to keep it at full speed. This will make it harder for your enemies to hit you. Try to sail in a zig-zag pattern as well to further throw your opponents off.

Multiplayer Tips
Keep your vulnerable ships such as carriers away from the enemy. Use islands when they're available as cover, especially for your more vulnerable craft.

When controlling a submarine, avoid using your periscope if the enemy has destroyers around. The enemy can spot your periscope, so it is better to remain concealed and let your torpedoes do the talking.

When in control of a shipyard, the biggest ships such as battleships are not always the best bet. If your opponent is using submarines, you will need a destroyer to detect and sink them.

Talk to your teammates to coordinate your actions against common targets to try and knock out your opponents. When you attack, do so from different directions, forcing your enemy to spread out their defenses or leave an opening.
