By entering the Celebrate Independence Day with Bad Company Xbox LIVE Play & Win Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") you (or, if a minor in your state of residence, your parent or legal guardian) agree to abide by these Official Rules and any other terms and conditions referenced in these Official Rules.
1. Eligibility
This Sweepstakes is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States (includes the District of Columbia) who are 13 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Microsoft Corporation and any person engaged to work on this promotional program and their respective affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies and each of their immediate family members (including mother, father, sister, brother, child, husband or wife) and those living in their households are not eligible to enter or win.
2. Promotion Period
This Promotion begins at 12:01 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) on June 27, 2008, and ends at 11:59 P.M. ET on June 29, 2008 ("Promotion Period").
3. How To Enter
There are two ways to enter: online or via US mail.
To enter online, you must have access to an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, the Battlefield: Bad Company video game for the Xbox 360 console, and be an Xbox LIVE® Gold member in good standing. Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you must do all of the following:
First, register for the Sweepstakes. You can register for the Sweepstakes online, or via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace by downloading the free Battlefield: Bad Company Registration Gamer Picture. To download the Battlefield: Bad Company LIVE Weekend Gamer Picture:
- Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Xbox LIVE Marketplace,
- Select "Game Store",
- Select "All Games",
- Select "Battlefield: Bad Company",
- Select "Battlefield: Bad Company Registration Gamer Picture" from the list of available content and select "Confirm Download".
- Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download Players will see a "Thank You for Registering" message.
You may also access the free Battlefield: Bad Company Registration Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.
You must register for this Sweepstakes using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to participate in Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer sessions via the Xbox LIVE service. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE membership information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current.
Updating Account Information (example for e-mail):
To verify/update your e-mail address:
- From the Xbox Dashboard, select "Marketplace Blade/Screen".
- Select "Account Management".
- Select "Contact Information".
- Enter your account e-mail and password, and then select "Sign In".
- E-mail address is located on the Contact Information screen.
Then, during the Promotion Period, you will automatically receive one (1) entry into the drawing when you are logged in and playing a Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer session on Xbox LIVE during the Promotion Period.
To enter by U.S. mail without registering online or playing the game, hand-print your first and last name, address, city, state, ZIP code, phone number and e-mail address (if any) on a 3x5 piece of paper and mail it to:

Limit one (1) entry per envelope. To be entered into the drawing, your mail-in entry(ies) must be postmarked by Monday, June 30, 2008, and received by Monday, July 7, 2008.
Entry Limit: Limit one (1) entry per person during the Promotion Period regardless of the entry method. Entries from the same individual or e-mail or household address received in excess of the limits stated herein will be automatically disqualified.
The use of automated devices to enter this Sweepstakes is prohibited. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, postage due or illegible entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become Microsoft's property and will not be returned.
4. Winner Selection / Prizes
Prize Drawing
On or around Monday, July 28, 2008, four hundred (400) names will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries received to win one of the following prizes:
- Two-hundred (200) First Prizes. A Battlefield: Bad Company T-shirt (Approximate Retail Value (ARV), $10.00 USD)
- Two-hundred (200) Second Prizes. A Battlefield: Bad Company poster (ARV, $5.00 USD)
Grand Prize Drawing
All First and Second Prize Winners will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Grand Prize Drawing. After the Prize Drawing, five (5) winners will be selected in a random drawing from among the First and Second Prize Winners to win one of the following prizes.
Four (4) First Runner-up Prize Packages Available. A prize package consisting of the following items:
- Xbox 360 console designed with character art from the developer, DICE (ARV, $585 USD)
- Battlefield: Bad Company Team Autographed Poster (ARV, $5 USD)

All random drawings will be conducted under the supervision of Sponsor, whose decisions are final. Odds of winning a prize in the Prize Drawing depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period. Limit one (1) Prize Drawing prize per person. Odds of winning a prize in the Grand Prize Drawing depend on the number of Prize Drawing prize winners; estimated to be 400.
Prizes are not redeemable for cash. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. Taxes on the prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Any and all guarantees and warranties for merchandise prizes are subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty or guarantee claim.
5. General Conditions
Sweepstakes entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Sweepstakes. This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Winners will be notified within seven (7) days after the drawing date via the contact information provided at time of entry, and may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release within seven (7) days following the date of attempted notification. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Return of any prize / prize notification as undeliverable or failure to accept prize within the specified time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants further grant to Sponsor the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print in any other media in connection with the Sweepstakes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winner's names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Sponsor, its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Sweepstakes or any prize won.
6. Internet
If for any reason the Internet portion of this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Sweepstakes. In any such event, Microsoft, at its sole discretion, will select the winner(s) from eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the event requiring such termination, suspension or cancellation. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Microsoft is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by Microsoft on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
7. Winners List
The names of the winners will be posted online on or around Monday, August 11, 2008 at: www.xbox.com/winners.
