Entering the City
There are four ways of entering a city, and dealing with a line of Guards:

• Use your Hidden Blade, execute a nearby Guard that isn't part of the line to create a distraction, then move away. When the line of Guards moves to investigate the slaying, step through the gate.
• Save a nearby Scholar, who will then summon a group of his friends. Blend with them, and pass between the Guards unhindered.
• Wall-run up the side of the gate away from the Guards, and use the handholds to maneuver above the line of Guards. Then, drop to the beam above the Guards and walk into the city.
• Be a brute. Challenge the Guards to combat, slay them all, and run in before reinforcements arrive.

The city is a vibrant hive of activity.

Distractions
Distractions are an excellent way to move a Guard from a location. Guards will leave their posts to investigate slain citizens or other Guards, allowing you access to those previously guarded areas. Distractions can be done by Hidden Blade Assassinations on the ground, throwing a Guard from a rooftop, or lobbing a Throwing Knife into a foe.

Watch Out for Archers
If you are attempting a Target Assassination, be sure to Stealth Assassinate all the Archers on the surrounding rooftops without attracting attention, to aid your escape.

Ladders OK, Wall Climbing Not So Much
Remember you can climb ladders, as this is socially acceptable. However, climbing up walls via ledges, window sills, and using other grab points will attract unwanted attention.

Thankfully, no one seems to be noticing.

Save the Citizens
Make sure you save as many citizens as possible. They will summon Vigilantes who in turn will prevent the Guards from chasing you.

Jar and Crate Carriers
Beware the Jar and Crate Carriers. If you nudge them, they will break your cover. Hold down the Push button in Low Profile when you touch them.

Special on Throwing Knives
Have you run out of throwing knives? Pickpocket some courageous citizens, or return to Masyaf to restock.

Hiding
Once you are exposed, run around a corner and break the line of sight of the Guards chasing you. Find a hiding spot in a bench, haystack, hay cart, with the scholars, or in a roof garden.

Removing Garnier de Naplouse
Your second Target Assassination is a Hospitaller Crusader in the fortress. Prepare for him by investigating the Poor District of Acre. Be sure you save the Scholar at the base of the stone steps outside the Hospitaller fortress. Once you've received the go-ahead from the Assassin Bureau Leader, return to the Scholars, blend in with them, and enter the fortress without resorting to combat.

Once inside, move to the left side area, where a second group of Scholars allows you to pass the Trouble Makers that can push you out of cover. Locate Garnier de Naplouse tending to the sick in one of six areas, draw your Hidden Blade and target him. Execute a Stealth Assassination.

As soon as you are successful (switch to your Sword and attack if your cover is blown), escape the building by climbing up and onto the candelabras, wooden ledges, and flee via the broken arched window to the east. Stay on the rooftops and free-step it all the way back to the Bureau. Good job!
