Check this. You are dropped at the top of a virgin mountain with nothing but powder and your whims to guide you down the mountain. Armed with the largest, most varied collection of tricks in any snowboarding game, you are free to go anywhere and do anything … now imagine seven of your friends get dropped off and head down the mountain with you! This is Amped® 2, and it can only be done on with XSN Sports and the power of Xbox.

You start the game as a local rider with low skills, generic equipment, and absolutely no rep. Create and customize your rider by choosing a hairstyle, gear, and your favorite board graphics.

As you trick your way down a variety of international mountains (designed with world-renowned terrain park designer Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson), you must impress the media and gain sponsorships. If you’ve got what it takes, you’ll rise up the ranks from Shop rider to Pro Rider to Superstar rider and eventually become a Number One rider. The freestyle gameplay lets you decide how you move along. You only have to complete 75 percent of the game to reach Number One status. And after you manage to make it to Number One, you have a chance to become a Legend by completing a Legend Challenge for each run. Anyone who makes Legend status will get his or her name posted online and receive mad props.

To aid your ride to Number One, Amped 2 takes all the moves from Amped and adds even sicker aerial tricks, super-advanced grabs, styled-out rail slides, tweaks, and a whole family of new lip tricks like stalls and plants. But the biggest addition is “Butter,” the key to a new combo system that allows nose and tail spin tricks, which can be used on their own or linked together to score some insane combos. The game also awards a style bonus for how you look and how you land as opposed to just the number of moves you pull off. If you use an analog motion softly for a slow back flip that is timed perfectly for a landing and you stick the landing, you get bonus points. And the perfect landing on a simple trick can be worth more than multiple-spin move.

But the best part of the whole game is XSN Sports. Now you can go online and exercise your bragging rights. Challenge other riders around the world to a variety of events, or just go to the top of a mountain and trick your way to the bottom against seven other riders.

Put simply, Amped 2 is looking like the ultimate freestyle snowboarding experience, with tons of tricks, wide-open courses, and multiplayer options that’ll keep the game as fresh as powder. We’ll see you at the top of the mountain.
