Chapters Two and Three Walkthrough

Notes: At the conclusion of the first chapter of Advent Rising, Gideon was unknowingly forced to choose between saving his brother’s life or that of his fiancée Olivia. For the purpose of this walkthrough, we "accidentally" saved Ethan from certain doom, while leaving our beloved Olivia behind. The information here reflects that choice of having Ethan as your sidekick in the next few missions.

Throughout this walkthrough, each phrase in bold type signifies the current objective as noted in the game itself.

Chapter Two—Surface Tension
Gideon and Ethan narrowly escape the flaming space station, although Gideon’s fiancée Olivia was left behind in the clutches of a Seeker grunt. The pod crash-lands on the nearby planet’s surface, stranding the Wyeth brothers a good clip away from civilization. Run toward the installation in the distance. Acquire transportation before returning for your brother. You’ll encounter hordes of Seekers guarding a burning spacecraft. Eliminate them, but be warned—seemingly endless reinforcements will flock to the fray, so when you’ve thinned their ranks somewhat, veer left to the motor pool bay. You find a Scythe ground transport parked inside, along with some weapons.

Enter the Scythe and drive back to Ethan. After your brother hops in, drive the Scythe to the tunnel entrance. Dodge the gunfire raining down from above and backtrack to the tunnel opening near the motor pool. Enter the tunnel and drive through it to the other end. When you exit, a small fleet of aircraft tracks you. Follow the aquaduct and drive the Scythe through the western canyon. Mow down any Seekers in your path, and then make your way toward Bahr Han City. Heed Ethan’s directions; he’ll clue you in on where to turn. Slow down near blind curves or hill crests, lest you careen off the side of a cliff. When you pass the downed ship, boost over the canyon. If you miss, drive up the path on the right side and try it again. You’ll jump another canyon and navigate some tricky passes before you enter Bahr Han City.

The new Scythe. Now with cruise control.

You rendezvous with a group of Marines, who take Ethan in for medical treatment. A grunt hops aboard the Scythe and mans the cannon while you navigate the city. Avoid enemy gunfire and falling debris as you speed down the flooded canal. You shortly find your Scythe pinned down below the city streets, so your next task is to find a way out of the sewers. Drive down the tunnel system until you are greeted by a crack squad of Seekers. Blow them away, then exit the Scythe and take the elevator up one floor. Proceed to the platform lift. Pick up any weapons you find and make your way through the city. Heal at one of the first aid stations if need be, and keep an eye on your ammo supply. Harvest weapons off the corpses of the fallen and proceed to the landing site.

Once you arrive at the checkpoint, defend the area until the elevator arrives. Maintain higher ground—if you descend to the valley floor, you’ll become surrounded and overpowered by Seekers. Once you’ve held the area long enough, continue to the platform lift at the opposite end of the courtyard.

Chapter Three—Extinction Agenda
The area gets quickly overrun by Seeker forces, so you’ll need to defend the area until help arrives. Ignore the grunts and quickly mount the turret to your left. Unleash hot doom on the troop transports in the sky. After you destroy the last of them, a Scythe will arrive with some friendlies. Hop in anddrive the Scythe to the command center.

Duck hunting in the future.

Swing the Scythe around and drive through the tunnel. Make your way past (or through) enemy troops and around the docked ships. Continue down the path until you hit the checkpoint. Despite your best efforts, your vehicle is destroyed. You’ll have to hoof it. Defend the area until the Marine unlocks the door nearby. Ignore the munitions on the ground and quickly mount the gun turret to the left of the doorway. Lay waste to all troop transports and infantry that threaten your squad. Be sure to direct some fire to the right side, as many stray Seekers will take potshots at your exposed flank if you aren’t careful. Find a way back to the upper launch deck when the coast is clear. Dismount the turret and enter the building. Heal if necessary, and then take the lift down with your men.

Hurry across the courtyard with the marines – if you dawdle, Seeker transports will arrive with reinforcements. Make a left at the end of the path and take the elevator down. Defeat the Seeker Shock Troops in your way. Though they are huge (and vaguely resemble ‘mechs) they will go down easily with a few good hits from your sidearm. Clear the platform of all enemies andproceed to the launch deck by taking the lift inside the building up one level. Activate the control panel on the far left to raise the gun turret. Destroy all troop transports andproceed to the western lift. Stop for health if you need it, destroy the Shock Troops, and take the lift to the control tower. Once you reach the top, defend the control tower using the gun turret. Take the lift across the courtyard then enter the building and proceed across the bridge to the command center.

Watch your step! Before you can cross the chasm, the bridge is destroyed, forcing you to find an alternate way into the command center. Take the nearby lift and enter the command center, then find Admiral Torn inside. He’ll clue you in on the gravity of the situation. Find transportation; now it's time to get the hell off the planet! Exit the command center and jump in the Scythe, then proceed to the northern medical platform and then to the upper medical deck. Pick up Ethan. He’ll tell you that you need to hijack a civilian ship to get off the planet, so rush to the civilian launch deck. Navigate the decks of the command station and avoid getting hit by flying meteors. Dodge the crumbling sections of the roadway until you reach the civilian ship. You’ll meet Marin Steel—a tough and sexy pilot who’s fighting off some thugs trying to steal her spacecraft. After an awkward introduction, she grants you passage on her ship ... after all, who hasn’t heard of the Gideon Wyeth?

Just in time, the two brothers escape the planet, although the rest of the human race isn’t as lucky. What lies ahead? The adventure is only beginning ….
