Trixie360 Interviews LordKuragari

Published July 8, 2009

Twitter's coming to Xbox, so all of July's Gamer Spotlights feature Xbox LIVE® members who are Twitterers! Meet LordKuragari and follow him on Twitter @LordKuragari. And be sure to check out his nomination mail which he sent via video!

trixie360: What's the story behind your Gamertag?

LordKuragari: Back in 1997, Marvel had a mini-series called Crimson Dawn. The main villain was named Kuragari, lord of the shadow realm. I dug his character and now LordKuragari been my handle for over 11 years.

trixie360: Where do you live?

LordKuragari: Seattle proper. First Hill to those in the know.

trixie360: What do you do when you're not gaming or tweeting?

LordKuragari: I'm currently attending school and am working towards a bachelor's degree in Physics. Additionally, I'm currently working on a Game Design/3D Modeling Certificate. The end goal is to work with video game design.

trixie360: What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?

LordKuragari: Honestly, the worst job I ever had was as an Assistant Manager at a gaming store. I'm not saying that all game store Assistant Managers have a bad job, but I did. Once I had asked a 5-year-old to not sit on a Rock Band box. Five minutes later, the kid's father comes up and slaps me in the face. That place was terrible.

trixie360: Yikes! How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?

LordKuragari: I've been a Silver Member for a while, but I finally got a Gold membership in December 2008.

trixie360: Woot for Gold! Do you have an archenemy on Xbox LIVE?

LordKuragari: Curses! That would be Tec3615. We are friends IRL, but when it comes to Street Fighter® IV, it is a brutal battle to the death.

trixie360: What's your Xbox setup like?

LordKuragari: Flat screen on top of an IKEA shelf my lady modded for me. It is really sweet because all my electronics fit nicely in the cubbies.

trixie360: What's the best feature of Xbox LIVE?

LordKuragari: Hands down, Xbox LIVE Arcade, I love it!

When LordKuragari and Tec3615 get together, they get to brawlin'.

trixie360: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?

LordKuragari: Halo®. I know it's weird but I love the first Halo, especially co-op campaign mode.

trixie360: What do you think is the best game of all time?

LordKuragari: Mega Man™ 2. I love it. I can beat the game in about 38-40 minutes, which is still 8 minutes slower than the world record. I would like to contest that score, King of Kong-style.

trixie360: What do you think is the best album of all time?

LordKuragari: Led Zeppelin's fourth album. "Stairway to Heaven," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Black Dog," "Four Sticks." You just can't beat it.

trixie360: Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

LordKuragari: Rock Band. Harmonix created Guitar Hero. You have to stick with innovators; they bring the best long-term returns.

trixie360: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?

LordKuragari: Beating Halo 3 on Legendary Co-Op. I love playing as the Arbiter and getting to speak in the third person. "The Arbiter is not amused by your antics." "The Arbiter drives for no one!"

trixie360: Who is your inner rock star?

LordKuragari: Johnny Cash.

trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?

LordKuragari: David Tennant.

He is a huge fan of Mega Man.

trixie360: What's your karaoke song?

LordKuragari: I will sing anything. I was crazy excited about Lips™ when I saw a preview in Zurich at Game Hotel. If I have to choose one, I often sing, "Take On Me" by Aha.

trixie360: If you can hit those high notes, I will be impressed! What superpower would you like to have?

LordKuragari: The ability to make beef jerky at will.

trixie360: Finally! Someone with an original superpower! I commend you, sir! If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?

LordKuragari: The doctor (from Dr. Who).

trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?

LordKuragari: Stephen Colbert. I bet he leaves the ice cream out and drinks from the milk carton.

trixie360: How many people are on your Friends List?

LordKuragari: About ten.

trixie360: Who's your favorite superhero?

LordKuragari: Hero would be Batman, but the best comic book character is Deadpool!

trixie360: Hot celeb you'd like to be stranded on a desert island with?

LordKuragari: Whoever is good at Go.

Co-op campaign in the original Halo is still a favorite.

trixie360: If you could be any video game character, who would it be?

LordKuragari: Mega Man always. But if I couldn't be Mega Man, maybe Sora.

trixie360: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?

LordKuragari: Lemonade that had fermented … worst ever.

trixie360: What's the first video game you ever played?

LordKuragari: 1943.

trixie360: What's the last book you read?

LordKuragari: Halo: The Cole Protocol by Tobias S. Buckell.

trixie360: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?

LordKuragari: Tenacious D.

trixie360: What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?

LordKuragari: Augmented reality.

trixie360: What do you think is the best thing about Xbox 360®?

LordKuragari: Xbox LIVE.

trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?

LordKuragari: Invincible (Clear the game without dying) on Mega Man 9. I haven't done it yet … but soon.

trixie360: You're a little obsessed with that game! What would you like to be doing in ten years?

LordKuragari: Developing video games, running my website, and traveling.
