Trixie360 Interviews N0VA KAIN
Published April 1, 2009
He works at the Twizzlers factory, does machinima on YouTube, and has an avatar that is the spitting image of Brian Crecente from Kotaku. Say hello to N0VA KAIN.
trixie360: What's the story behind your Gamertag?
N0VA KAIN: I have had a lot of Gamertags. Online I usually went by the alias Nova; it kind of stuck since not everyone names their kid Nova. My old Gamertag was running out, I didn't like it much anymore, so I tried to think of what goes with Nova. Of course N0va Kain comes up, and choosing between that and SuperNova wasn't a hard move at all.
trixie360: Where do you live?
N0VA KAIN: Lancaster PA, home of absolutely nothing. It's pretty bland. The community is nonexistent. This is a place where going next door to ask for sugar would probably result in a few vulgar words and hand gestures.
trixie360: Really? I had no idea the Amish were so rude. What do you do for work/school?
N0VA KAIN: I work third shift for the Twizzlers factory, basically just packaging the Twizzlers in their packages, which I advise no one else to take up should they want to get a job. The smell is just terrible. You would think Twizzlers would smell good while being made, but I guess I was wrong. While at home, I manage a fantasy wrestling federation online, and make machinima on my YouTube page UberHaxorNova.
trixie360: What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?
N0VA KAIN: I worked with my Mom at Land Transfer Co. where I would basically just sit around and pull staples out of papers. There wasn't much to it at all. I just sat … all day … and pulled staples.
trixie360: How long have you been on Xbox LIVE®?
N0VA KAIN: Since November 2002, had it since the good old MechAssault days.
trixie360: What's your Xbox setup like?
N0VA KAIN: Nothing really special. I have a 37-inch Vizio HD TV. I have speakers, but I'm too lazy to hook them up.
trixie360: What's the best feature of Xbox LIVE?
N0VA KAIN: I would probably say a tie between the chatting with friends and talking trash to opposite team members and Netflix. Without Netflix I would not have been introduced to The Office; what an amazing show that is.
trixie360: What do you think is the best game of all time?
N0VA KAIN: Has to be the Resident Evil series. The story branches in so many directions, and when you're a fan of the series since the late 90s, you really try to learn about every branch and every connection that occurs.
trixie360: What's the funniest thing you've ever heard on Xbox LIVE?
N0VA KAIN: Anything my cousin says will garner a laugh. Whether it's his "It's Just Amazing" phrase that he sticks into any situation, good or bad, or just making some stupid yelling noise. It's also really funny when I play Photo Party with friends. That almost always has the entire group of 8 in party chat dying of laughter.
trixie360: What's your favorite TV show?
N0VA KAIN: The Office. Steve Carell, man, I just cannot get enough of this guy's comedy. He's a guy where you can put yourself in place of his character, so when you're in an awkward position or conversation, you just think, what would Michael Scott say? And then you hit 'em with a "That's what she said." Works every time.
trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?
N0VA KAIN: Ryan Reynolds. He's funny, yet he can do serious stuff at the same time. That's pretty much how I would say my life is so far, a few serious points, but then filled with comedy.
trixie360: What's your karaoke song?
N0VA KAIN: "Land Down Under" by Men at Work.
trixie360: What superpower would you like to have?
N0VA KAIN: Having the speed of The Flash could help in so many ways. Things would get done in about two seconds, leaving me with so much day time to continue working on movies or anything like that. I'd also go back to Halo® 2 and completely master that Double Shot. Yeah and show those level 50s who's boss.
trixie360: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?
N0VA KAIN: Gotta be Christian Bale. At the moment he is probably gathering the most heat because of his "flip out" that is all over YouTube. I would love to be in that position to see how people react to someone they idolized in the so-called greatest movie of all time, and then going ape on a guy.
trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?
N0VA KAIN: Billy Mays. His constant yelling would get annoying very fast. The only good thing would be the crazy amount of As Seen on TV products he brings home every day.
trixie360: That dude is always yelling at me. I'm afraid to turn on the TV. How many people are on your Friends List?
N0VA KAIN: I struggle with this every day. It's always max. So please Microsoft, raise that 100 cap. I get Friend Requests every day, and I like to accept everyone, but for everyone that I accept, someone has to be kicked off. It sucks for them.
trixie360: Who's your favorite superhero?
N0VA KAIN: Since I was a little boy it has always been Gambit from X-Men. I went as far as to go into my elementary school with a deck of cards and started to throw them at people. Yeah, it didn't last long because I kept getting into trouble.
trixie360: Hot celeb you'd like to be stranded on a desert island with?
N0VA KAIN: As long as she wore the exact outfit from Underworld, Kate Beckinsale has to be at the top of the list.
trixie360: That leather wouldn't be very practical on a tropical island. If you could be any video game character, who would it be?
N0VA KAIN: HUNK from Resident Evil. I could go into his story and all the explanation why, but it would likely be a three-paragraph essay. So Resident Evil fans know why he's a bad ass, I'll leave it at that.
trixie360: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?
N0VA KAIN: My friend's history teacher gave me a wasabi pea one day after school. I can only say I will not be eating them any more in my entire life.
trixie360: Wasabi anything is owie. Video Monkey brushes his teeth with it. He's hardcore. What's the first video game you ever played?
N0VA KAIN: Super Mario World for the SNES.
trixie360: What's the last book you read?
N0VA KAIN: It's been so long since I last read a book, it would probably be a Goosebumps book of some kind.
trixie360: Sad. If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?
N0VA KAIN: RED. I have become a Red addict after buying their last album, and I will definitely be picking up their newest one when that comes out.
trixie360: What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?
N0VA KAIN: I couldn't say, I just hope it does not involve the number 3 and the letter D. I don't want to have to wear goofy glasses and strain my eyes while I play a video game.
trixie360: What do you think is the best thing about Xbox 360?
N0VA KAIN: I'd say Xbox LIVE, but there are just so many things I like about Xbox. Xbox LIVE is definitely at the top of the feature list.
trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?
N0VA KAIN: 5 Hall of Famers ("In Career mode, induct 5 Superstars to the Hall of Fame") in WWE® SmackDown® vs. Raw® 2009. I mean, what were they thinking with that one? It takes like 10 hours to complete just one, but 5!? You've got to be kidding me.
trixie360: What would you like to be doing in ten years?
N0VA KAIN: Hopefully more of the same, maybe learning more in Photoshop that I could get some graphic design work. Maybe getting better with my machinima where I become more known through the Xbox community.
