Trixie360 Interviews SourNotHardcore

Published January 21, 2009

He's a professional maid in Las Vegas, a self-described "Twitterholic" and an Associate Editor at The Xbox Domain. Say hello to SourNotHardcore.

trixie360: What's the story behind your Gamertag?

SourNotHardcore: I've told this story many times before. When I got Xbox LIVE® about five years ago, I was way into the music sub-genre "hardcore", which is a type of metal music, and had recently seen School of Rock. When creating my Gamertag, the lyrics to a song in School of Rock "Well, you're not hardcore" came to mind. It was too long to put all that, so I shortened it to SoUrNotHardcore. People started confusing it with "Sour" instead of "So You're." As time went on, I started growing out of my hardcore phase and got used to my LIVE buds calling me Sour; even my real life friends would call me Sour. I eventually made the dramatic change of changing the U into a lowercase letter to match.

trixie360: Where do you live?

SourNotHardcore: I live in the tourist-infested city of Las Vegas, Nevada.

trixie360: Great place to get married. What do you do in Sin City?

SourNotHardcore: For work, I am proud to say I am a Professional Domestic Sanitary Specialist, in other words a male maid. Across Las Vegas, families depend on me for keeping their houses sparkling clean.

trixie360: What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?

SourNotHardcore: I used to be a prep cook for a restaurant in a casino. Long hours, standing all day, cracking hundreds of eggs, and so little pay.

trixie360: Cracking eggs all day sounds kinda fun actually. How long have you been on Xbox LIVE?

SourNotHardcore: I started playing on Xbox LIVE about a year after it was released. My friend, Mr MoMo, introduced me to the concept of online play and I became hooked.

trixie360: Do you have an archenemy on Xbox LIVE?

SourNotHardcore: I do happen to have a nemesis on LIVE. He goes by the name Vicious Artist and does evil things.

He loves the multiplayer mode of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

trixie360: He sounds mean … yet sensitive. What's your Xbox setup like?

SourNotHardcore: I game with a Vizio 32-inch, but I'm all about the sound. I have a Dolby Digital Surround Sound system with a nifty little remote.

trixie360: What's the best feature of Xbox LIVE?

SourNotHardcore: The best feature would have to be the party chat. You will almost never catch me not in a party with some comrades.

trixie360: What is your favorite multiplayer Xbox game?

SourNotHardcore: I'm going oldschool here and it is definitely Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Came out about two years after the original Xbox did, and I still see to it that it gets played.

trixie360: What is your favorite single player Xbox game?

SourNotHardcore: Wik: Fable of Souls. Too much fun using your tongue along with momentum to get to your destination.

trixie360: Oh my. What do you think is the best game of all time?

SourNotHardcore: Tetris FTW! Never was really into it until I had no other gaming choice for a few weeks. I had to bust out my original Game Boy and put those blocks in their place.

Using your tongue is fun in Wik: Fable of Souls.

trixie360: What's the funniest thing you've ever heard on Xbox LIVE?

SourNotHardcore: I was in a party chat a few weeks ago when this random dude comes in and starts reading my bio while impersonating Beavis and Butthead. He was darn good at it, too.

trixie360: What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?

SourNotHardcore: This has to go to that "first to ten battle" I had on Jedi Academy when I was going up against the best player in the game. I had six kills to his nine. Everyone was rooting for him when I started playing more tactical and eventually got the best of him with my left saber swing.

trixie360: Who is your inner rock star?

SourNotHardcore: Ronan Harris from VNV Nation with his powerful voice and gnarly synthesizer beats.

trixie360: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?

SourNotHardcore: Billy Mays for sure. He has my eyes and can do attitude!

trixie360: What's your karaoke song?

SourNotHardcore: "I Want To Love You Tender" by Armi Ja Danny. The music video is really weird, but the song is way too catchy.

100,000 kills and the Seriously 2.0 achievement shouldn't be too hard for these guys.

trixie360: What cartoon character do you think is most like you?

SourNotHardcore: Mosquito "Skeeter" Valentine from the old TV show Doug. He is totally wacky like me.

trixie360: What superpower would you like to have?

SourNotHardcore: Telekinesis. I would love to have the ability to move things with my mind and TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! Okay, maybe not that last part.

trixie360: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?

SourNotHardcore: Robert Downey, Jr. I'd love to be the guy that takes a serious character or situation and makes it comical for the fans.

trixie360: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?

SourNotHardcore: Alec Baldwin. He seems like a guy that would turn his back on me when I'm struggling with bills and rent. When he's walking out the door, he'd say in a deep voice, "It's your problem, not mine."

trixie360: Hot celeb you'd like to be stranded on a desert island with?

SourNotHardcore: Winona Ryder. I would spend my whole life on that island with her.

Faith shows what she's got in Mirror's Edge.

trixie360: Seriously? She'd probably steal your … sand. If you could be any video game character, who would it be?

SourNotHardcore: Faith from Mirror's Edge™. She's too pro at parkour.

trixie360: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?

SourNotHardcore: Menudo. I can't stand extremely soggy meat.

trixie360: What's the last book you read?

SourNotHardcore: The Gears of War® 2 instruction manual. Didn't really need to, but I was just interested in the artwork.

trixie360: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?

SourNotHardcore: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Hanging out with all three members, especially with Karen O with her truly non-caring and wacky attitude, would be a dream come true.

trixie360: What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?

SourNotHardcore: The Xbox Portable! *crosses fingers*

trixie360: What do you think is the best thing about Xbox 360®?

SourNotHardcore: The ability to have good competition in a wide variety of good games and to beat the other players with your fellow friends.

trixie360: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get?

SourNotHardcore: The hardest achievement so far is Seriously 2.0 in Gears of War 2. I mean, 100,000 kills … seriously.

trixie360: What would you like to be doing in ten years?

SourNotHardcore: I would love to be in a computer career with a certain company that I support and starts with the letter M.

The Nomination Mail

Hi Trixie, I would like to nominate myself for the Gamer Spotlight. I am a game blogger over at HookedGamers. I love to write about games and interact with the community and I'm indeed a Twitterholic. As for my non-gaming 21-year-old life, I love making an idiot out of myself, record it, edit it, and post it on the series of toobs. As for my career I am a Professional Domestic Sanitary Specialist aka Maid. And yes, upon customer's request, I would wear the Official Standard (black and white) Uniform. That is why I would make a good Gamer Spotlight. =)
