Xbox Undercover:

The My Xbox Team

Since My Xbox® debuted in October 2005, the development team has continued to work nonstop adding features and making improvements. March 2006 saw the addition of friends management. Then five weeks later the team delivered the My Xbox Message Center.

Obviously, these guys and girls are wicked smart and work their butts off to make Xbox.com your second Xbox Live® place. Here's a look at some of the team members.

The folks behind My Xbox.

The folks behind My Xbox.

Reed Large Jaguar Rector is the Lead Developer for the team. That means he bosses around the other developers.

TriXie: What has been the biggest challenge with My Xbox?

Reed: Providing near real-time Xbox Live information to the huge number of people on the Web without impacting the experience of people actively playing games on Xbox Live.

TriXie: What's your favorite video game ever?

Reed: Herzog Zwei.

TriXie: What is the coolest part—your favorite part—of My Xbox?

Reed: The ability to host dynamically generated gamer cards anywhere on the Web. The opportunity to proclaim my gamer identity and accomplishments to everybody, not just those going to Xbox.com, is just plain cool.

Clinton Tonic Fowler is the Lead Program Manager for My Xbox.

TriXie: For those who may think all you do is appear in GT TV videos and IGN interviews, can you tell us what a program manager does?

Clinton: I don't program, and I don't manage, but I do get to dream up what features we should add to My Xbox and then I get to work with our dev, design, marketing, test, and operations teams to make it a reality. It's a pretty sweet gig.

TriXie: What's the best part of My Xbox?

Clinton : It's a tie between comparing achievements with my friends and the integration of the gamer card in the forums. The integration into forums is simply gorgeous. That said, I love trash talking, so the ability to compare achievements with my friends is clutch. I'm looking forward to making sure I've completing all the PGR® 3 and Need for Speed™ Most Wanted achievements before my good friends Large Jaguar, Hiro Protagonist, X, and Zoolander. Bring it on, boys!

TriXie: What's your favorite video game of all time?

Clinton: The MotoGP online demo that shipped at the launch of Xbox Live. It was a great racing game that captured the essence of the sport like no game before it, but, more importantly, it set the bar for online racing games. It was jaw dropping to get into a race with 16 other racers from around the world and go head-to-head. The team at Climax rocked!

TriXie: Favorite game character?

Clinton: Umm, no one character really resonates with me. Shout out to my '05 downhill mountain bike sponsors—Azonic, Hayes, www.project529.com, Pedro's, Maxxis, MRP, Manitou, Scott, and THE. See you online or at the races!

Claire SpiderGrrl Jennings is a My Xbox developer.

TriXie: So what specifically do you work on for My Xbox?

Claire:My area of expertise is making the UI look and work the way you want it to. I am not a hardcore gamer, so I also want to make it appealing to a wider audience than just the hardcore gamers.

TriXie: Who's your favorite game character?

Claire: Bastila from Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™.

TriXie: What's your favorite thing about My Xbox?

Claire:The gamer card at the top of every page.

TriXie: What's your favorite video game of all time?

Claire: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

SpiderGrrl and Li Song.

SpiderGrrl and Li Song.

Li Song is a developer for My Xbox.

TriXie: What part of My Xbox were you responsible for?

Li: The development of account creation and profile management.

TriXie: Tricky stuff! What's your gamertag?

Li: I am not a good gamer—I'll keep my gamertag private at this point.

TriXie: Fair enough. What's the coolest part of My Xbox?

Li: The friends list.

Kurtis RabbiLoWang Chin is another developer. He's number one on the Xbox Live Arcade leaderboard. Kurtis is also a man of few words, as you will see …

TriXie: What's your favorite part of My Xbox?

Kurtis: Achievements!

TriXie: What was the biggest challenge you've had with My Xbox?

Kurtis: Getting everything working between My Xbox and Xbox Live.

TriXie: Favorite video game of all time?

Kurtis: Final Fantasy® 7.

TriXie: Favorite game character?

Kurtis: Lo Wang:P.

IceCooker and RabbiLoWang.

Mark IceCooker Zhou is a developer who worked on some especially tricky stuff.

TriXie: Tell us about what you've worked on.

Mark: I worked on Passport sign-in, and forums. (My Xbox has a link to forums preferences, which belongs to forums. But forums itself is not part of My Xbox.)

TriXie: What's the best part of My Xbox?

Mark: The part that links the Web to the Xbox Live service.

TriXie: What was the biggest challenge of working on My Xbox?

Mark: Keeping my bedtime :).

TriXie: Best video game of all time?

Mark:Halo®.

These are just a few of the hardworking people that are working on My Xbox and Xbox.com every day. So if you see them online, say thanks!
