TriXie Interviews CO DEVIL

Published June 28, 2007

CO DEVIL is an aerospace engineer, personal trainer, former helicopter mechanic, and record-breaking amateur powerlifter. Oh yeah, and she's a member of Xbox GamerchiX.

TriXie: What's the story behind your Gamertag?

CO DEVIL: Well, I'm originally from Colorado, so that's the CO part. But I have to work in New Jersey and New Jersey is known for the New Jersey Devil and my real name is Angel, but I certainly don't act like an angel, so that's the devil part.

TriXie: Where do you live?

CO DEVIL: I live in the pits of hell. I mean northern New Jersey, but hail from the Mile High City.

TriXie:What do you do for a living?

CO DEVIL: I'm the ruler and the gatekeeper of hell. No, no just kidding. I'm a full time aerospace engineer, slaving away for the government, but I do it all for the amazing pay and its long work hours LOL. I also own a personal training business and run that part time. I absolutely love helping and teaching people how to get into shape. I'm also an amateur powerlifter, hoping to go pro one day, just gotta stay healthy. I just recently broke the State and National Records in the WNPF in the 132-lb. class.

TriXie: Wow! Congratulations! What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?

CO DEVIL: I haven't had a bad job. I can usually find a way to get what I want out of a job and find ways to make it fun. I've had a couple of exciting jobs. I used to be a helicopter mechanic for the Army National Guard, which was a ton of fun. Getting to fly around is one of the perks. I also worked for the Navy as an engineer and getting to ride the huge aircraft carriers was exciting. Being on the flight deck during air ops is amazing.

TriXie: How long have you been on Xbox LIVE®?

CO DEVIL: It was a Christmas gift last year and I've been on since.

You can often find CO DEVIL playing Gears of War.

TriXie: Do you have an archenemy on Xbox LIVE?

CO DEVIL: LOL, I have a lot of friends but one person stands out as a possible archenemy. It's the husband of one of my friends. I'm not gonna name names, but he likes to hide and then chainsaw me on Gears of War®. He gets me every time, along with everyone else, but it's all fun and games.

TriXie: How many hours a day or week do you spend playing on Xbox LIVE?

CO DEVIL: I wish I could spend more time, but unfortunately I haven't won the lottery yet and being the Dark Lord really takes up a lot of my time. Maybe I should get an assistant, a Mini-Devil. So, lately, I've only spent about 1-2 hours a day.

TriXie: Having a mini-devil is great. Although mine is six-foot-four. If you are married or have a boyfriend, how does he feel about your Xbox LIVE time? Is he understanding?

CO DEVIL: At first he was a little jealous (although he wouldn't admit it) because I would have my minions online and play with them. Then we bought another Xbox® and now he's mad because when I log into LIVE, my pop-up usually shows that I have 20 plus friends online and he only has about 2 and I'm one of them. But he's still my favorite gamer.

I'm getting the feeling CO DEVIL will like Overlord.

TriXie: What's the hardest thing about being a female gamer on Xbox LIVE?

CO DEVIL: I haven't had any problems being the ruler of the underworld. LOL. I'm used to being the only female in a room. I've always had jobs (aircraft mechanic, engineer) and hobbies (weightlifting, riding motorcycles) where I was the only female in a male environment. It's really never bothered me. The guys are usually accepting and willing to teach you if you ask nicely.

TriXie: Are there any advantages?

CO DEVIL: Sometimes males will go easy on a female. That kind of bothers me because I want to beat you when you're playing at your best. I appreciate it more when people play at their fullest potential, then it pushes me to become a better player—you gotta beat the best to be the best. There is one advantage that I have with some guys. When they find out I'm a girl, it usually becomes a mind game for them because they are trying so hard to beat me that they end up beating themselves.

TriXie: What's your Xbox setup like?

CO DEVIL: I bought my buddy's TV when he was moving because I liked playing Halo® on his TV, plus it's a huge screen compared to my other TV. Of course, it's hooked up to the stereo and I crank it 'cause I can't hear it over the people screaming in the fire pits.

TriXie: What's the best feature of Xbox LIVE?

CO DEVIL: Being able to talk and play with my friends across the country is the best feature. It was sad when they moved away, but Xbox LIVE has kept us connected.

TriXie: What feature would you like to see on Xbox LIVE?

CO DEVIL: Achievements for old Xbox games.

TriXie: What is your favorite LIVE-enabled game?

CO DEVIL: For arcade, Aegis Wing. I love free games and this is tons of fun in multiplayer. For Xbox 360™, Gears of War goes without saying.

CO DEVIL is looking forward to EndWar.

CO DEVIL is looking forward to EndWar.

TriXie: What future LIVE-enabled game are you most looking forward to?

CO DEVIL: For arcade, I would love to see some more board games like Monopoly or Battleship. And of course, I have to mention this for the GamerchiX, Oregon Trail and Carmen Sandiego would also be fun. For Xbox, Tom Clancy's EndWar™.

TriXie: What is your favorite offline Xbox game?

CO DEVIL: Halo, Gears of War, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas is always fun to play in story mode.

TriXie: What do you think is the best game of all time?

CO DEVIL: Gears of War is the best. Being able to hide behind cover and roadie run is loads of fun. Plus I can be an evil character, it fits my persona. I'll always love GoldenEye because that's what started my addiction and there's a lot of good memories of me and my brothers playing each other on that game.

TriXie: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you?

CO DEVIL: Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) from Lost. I'm a simple, tough lady and I think she could portray this fairly easily.

TriXie: What's your karaoke song?

CO DEVIL: Frank Sinatra's "My Way." I can usually go with the crowd (if I think they're right) but I've been known to do it my way.

TriXie: What cartoon character do you think is most like you?

CO DEVIL: Lisa Simpson because she's smart and her family … well, not so smart. I often wonder if I was adopted or switched, and so does my Mom.

TriXie: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?

CO DEVIL: Any astronaut in space. That's still on my to-do list.

TriXie: What celebrity would be the worst roommate?

CO DEVIL: Probably anybody on those reality shows because I hate drama! Just suck it up and move on, life is too short to be sweating the small stuff.

TriXie: Hot celeb you'd like to shack up with?

CO DEVIL: Is Hugh Jackman looking for a roomie?

TriXie: Only if he gets rid of the wife and kids. What game character is most like you?

CO DEVIL: Hmm, maybe Lara Croft, because she's a lady of action.

TriXie: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?

CO DEVIL: Chicken Cordon Bleu—or squirky chicken as it's called in the military. I ate it when I was younger and puked it up an hour later. I think I had a bad batch, but I avoid it like the plague just because of that memory.

TriXie: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be?

CO DEVIL: Tina Turner. She looks like she has fun on the stage and she's a classy lady.

TriXie: What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming?

CO DEVIL: I think it's already happening with Shadowrun™, PC gaming with videogame consoles.

TriXie: What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360?

CO DEVIL: Xbox LIVE of course—that's where I can recruit new members to the dark side. LOL.

TriXie: What would you like to be doing in ten years?

CO DEVIL: Be a pro power lifter and living in Colorado with a huge ranch and a couple of dogs … demon dogs of course with fiery eyes that make you turn to stone when you stare at them. And coaching and riding my motorcycle in the mountains whenever I want.
