The Important Stuff:Gamertag: Mystic 88 The Nomination Mail:TriXie, My husband is an avid Xbox 360 user. Everyday, I could yell at him for staying on all night, but the fact remains I am still married to him because of that Xbox. Most men beg to go out with their friends but he begs to play his games. We both work, he is a Journalist/Broadcaster for the United States Army in the 25th Infantry Divisionin Hawaii. He is always very busy with work, and still manages to take turns picking up the kids from day care, cook dinner, put the family to bed, and usually I will fall asleep watching a movie moments later. Then he usually waits till my eyes start to roll in the back of my head and he puts his Xbox on. So I am not sure what happens then but I am usually awakened by a loud explosion from the TV, just as he blows someone up in the game, I think is called Battlefield. He incorporates the family in his playing on Saturday mornings, playing Ghost Recon with his nine and eight year old daughters and three year old son. Now there is some time where he will be deploying in October. So I will not see him for a year. But I know for a fact the first thing he talked about packing was his Xbox. He is a great "papi", a great husband, and even a greater player. I just wanted to show him even though I hate him playing sometimes, I'd rather him do that than run the streets. So thank you. He has been a loyal fan to the Xbox community and tells me regularly his accomplishments and achievements. I just want him to realize I love him with all my heart no matter how muchI whine about his gaming, but I know he loves me for it.His gamertag is Mystic 88. Thank you for your time. Mrs. Mystic 88 | Gamer Spotlight:TriXie Interviews Mystic 88This gamer lives in Hawaii, is an Army Photojournalist/Broadcaster, and has three kids. He's shipping out to Iraq, so everyone wish Mystic 88 good luck and godspeed! TriXie: What's the story behind your gamertag? Mystic 88: I used to be a Disc Jockey, and my name was DJ Mystic, because I was so mysterious. The 88 is the number I used as my racing number in my old car club. TriXie: Where do you live? Mystic 88: I live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. The city is called Schofield Barracks, about 20 minutes from the popular surfing spot called North Shore. TriXie: So. Jealous. What do you do for a living? Mystic 88: I am a Photojournalist/Broadcaster in charge of a small group of U.S. Army journalists and broadcasters who support the 25th Infantry Division with video and print stories. We get to tell the world what the soldiers from Hawaii do, both here and in Iraq. I am also taking online college courses to finish up my degree at Chaminade University. I graduate in May. TriXie: Congratulations! What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had? Mystic 88: Well, I've had many jobs, but all of them I pretty much liked. Although there was a time when I was in Germany, I had to pick up frozen poop in the field when we did some training exercises. Good thing that it was frozen, bad thing was, it was frozen to our boots, so when you were inside and the snow melted you had muddy poop. TriXie: Poop at any temperature is bad news. Do you have an arch enemy on Xbox Live®? Mystic 88: It used to be my brother-in-law, SECK24. He used to murder me in Halo® 2 until he got divorced from my sister, and had to sell his Xbox® to pay for child support. Right now it is SHAGGADELIC. He always kills me when I am trying to get an achievement in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat™, and is a fellow I-Club member. TriXie: What's your Xbox set-up like? Mystic 88: Ok. I have a JVC with 56-inch HD LCD screen, and an old Pioneer DTS Digital Dolby Surround Sound receiver with huge speakers that get on my wife's nerves. I am using a wireless network. Oh yeah, I chill on the AK 200 series Rocker Gaming Chair. TriXie: Damn! What's the best feature of Xbox Live? Mystic 88: It would be playing with people all over the world, sending messages, and the integration of Xbox Live with the Xbox.com website. TriXie: What do you think is the best game of all time? Mystic 88: Mutant League Football for Sega Genesis. That was so awesome at the time. TriXie: What is your greatest Xbox Live moment? Mystic 88: There was this day when I was the man, no one could shoot me down or beat me in a race. All the Xbox Live games I was playing, I was on fire. There was this other player, when I was playing Battlefield 2, he kept respawning at the same spot after he died. He was the type to talk nasty trash on the headset, bad words, everything … you name it, and he would say it. So another player and I would just take turns sniping him, oh my god you should have heard his mouth. It was hilarious. He would beg us to stop doing it. But we did it for about 10 minutes before he quit. TriXie: If they made a movie about your life, who should play you? Mystic 88: John Leguizamo. TriXie: What's your karaoke song? Mystic 88: "Summer Nights" with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. TriXie: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be? Mystic 88: If I could trade, it would be with one of the editors of either Sports Compact Car or Official Xbox Magazine. I want to feel how it is when your job is your hobby. TriXie, can I send you my resume … hahaha … no, for real can I? TriXie: Sure! What celebrity would be the worst roommate? Mystic 88: Flavor Flav … That man looks like crazy crack head, plus he would be just bad all the time. Plus after watching Flavor of Love, you gotta be crazy to room with that dude. TriXie: Hot celeb you'd like to be stranded on a desert island with? Mystic 88: Salma Hayak. She is a sexy, elegant, and classy Latina. Shhh don't tell my wife … TriXie: My lips are sealed. If you could be any video game character, who would it be? Mystic 88: Tommy Vercetti, from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He took nothing from nobody. He did his thing to reign over Vice City. He got what he wanted when he wanted. He also could drive as fast as he wanted. TriXie: What's the worst food you've ever eaten? Mystic 88: Barbeque enchiladas … I just gag thinking about it. TriXie: What's the last book you read? Mystic 88: Sorry, I don't read books. I read magazines and periodicals though. The last thing I read was a story about a soldier who died as he was helping rebuild a school for children in Iraq. It's sad but true. There are many soldiers who have died, making a better place for the Iraqi people. TriXie: If you could go on tour with any band, which would it be? Mystic 88: *N SYNC … Psych! I would say Gorillaz. TriXie: You do realize they're cartoons right? What do you predict will be the "next big thing" in gaming? Mystic 88: Gaming is evolving every chance it gets, so the next thing to come should be the integration of electronic devices to the Xbox. Even car diagnostics. Wouldn't it be nice to control all your household chores with a touch of an Xbox guide button? TriXie: What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360™? Mystic 88: The Xbox Guide and Media Center. It integrates all necessary media outlets to your gaming if you have Windows Media Center. TriXie: What is the Xbox 360 Achievement that was hardest to get? Mystic 88: I am still working to get any achievements in Final Fantasy XI. That one takes weeks to accomplish. Its not simply beating a level, but actually developing a character. TriXie:What would you like to be doing in ten years? Mystic 88: I love writing, so I hope to be an established editor for a big car or gaming magazine. But more than likely I will still be in the Army living life all around the world with my wife and kids. TriXie: Sounds pretty good to me! Anything else you want to add? Mystic 88: Now that I know my wife did this, I guess I have to make sure I cook dinner tonight. |
