Gamer Spotlight:

TriXie Interviews PMS Mary Jane

TriXie: What's the story behind your gamertag?

PMS Mary Jane: I love Spiderman! I think that the women in comics are awesome, Mary Jane is awesome!

TriXie: What do you do in Boulder?

PMS Mary Jane: Originally I was going to go to Colorado University for engineering, then I decided to go for my teacher's certificate. Now I am looking to go into design or broadcast journalism. Things change so fast! I am also working right now as an administrative assistant and waitress.

TriXie: What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?

PMS Mary Jane: I haven't had any weird jobs … but I hated telemarketing! It even annoyed me and I was the one making the phone calls!

TriXie: How long have you been on Xbox Live®?

PMS Mary Jane: Since launch. MechAssault® baby!

TriXie: Do you have an arch enemy on Xbox Live?

PMS Mary Jane: No. Well, kinda. Back before I played with PMS, in MechAssault actually, there was this guy that always called me out whenever we got matched up together … He was so mean, and would always talk smack just cuz' I was a girl on the game … after about 50 games with him … yea, it started to get to me.

TriXie: Fifty games! You have the patience of a saint! What's the hardest thing about being a female gamer on Xbox Live?

PMS Mary Jane: All the smack talk we get. It would be one thing if it was because of my game play … or if I was being mean. But guys will just badmouth me cuz I am female. When the day comes that we are considered just gamers instead of "girl gamers", that will be when I am truly happy. We shouldn't be picked on just because of our gender. Just as someone shouldn't be made fun of for age, race, religion, political status or anything else.

TriXie: Amen, sister. Are there any advantages to being a girl?

PMS Mary Jane: Yes! I am part of the most amazing clan, PMS, and I couldn't be unless I was a girl. I also love our community! The H2O's rock, and they are some of the nicest people I have ever met. But in the end, I want to be considered a good gamer—not a girl gamer.

TriXie: What's your Xbox set-up like? You rocking a big-screen TV and Dolby sound?

PMS Mary Jane: I wish!! LOL. I just moved out of my place with the big HD wide screen … and now I am playing both my Xbox 360 and Xbox® on this little baby 12-incher. I need a new setup pronto!

TriXie: What's the best feature of Xbox Live?

PMS Mary Jane: All the gamers that I can play with. Meeting people from all over the world is awesome, and when we all share the same passion it makes it even better. I would not have met any of the people I know today if it wasn't for Xbox Live … and now they are some of my closest friends!

TriXie: What feature would you like to see on Xbox Live?

PMS Mary Jane: More friends on my friends list! And clan support on all games. Pushing 500 girls in PMS, there is no way to even have all of them on one list!

TriXie: What future Live-enabled game are you most looking forward to?

PMS Mary Jane: Oh take a guess … Halo® 3, baby!

TriXie: What do you think is the best game of all time?

PMS Mary Jane: Ms. Pac-Man! Hehe. No really, I think that Halo® was what took my heart and stole it away into the world of games.

TriXie: What do you think is the best album of all time?

PMS Mary Jane: Tool is my favorite band, so either Opiate or Aenima.

TriXie: What has been your greatest Xbox Live moment?

PMS Mary Jane: My first game with all girls. It blew my mind how cool and nice all these other gamers were! And that they were girls like me! I was so blessed to find a group of friends on Xbox Live like the ones I have. PMS Clan rocks my SOCKS!

TriXie: Who is your inner rock star?

PMS Mary Jane: Maynard.

TriXie: Ah. The dude from Tool. What super power would you like to have?

PMS Mary Jane: Telekinesis.

TriXie: If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be?

PMS Mary Jane: The President. I would do things my way for once.

TriXie: I think you'd need more than a day to clean up that cesspool. Who's cooler: Sam Fisher, Leisure Suit Larry, or Master Chief?

PMS Mary Jane: Master Chief, duh!

TriXie: What's the worst food you've ever eaten?

PMS Mary Jane: Rat on a stick … I didn't eat it, but seeing it made me sick!

TriXie: Nasty! What do you predict will be the 'next big thing' in gaming?

PMS Mary Jane: An Xbox handheld? Hehe. I wish. I think that the arcade will be sick. I see the old retro games and new indie developers bringing gamers some great things!

TriXie: What do you think is the best thing about the Xbox 360?

PMS Mary Jane: The controller! It rocks. And all wireless baby … ownage! Plus the graphics, and the customization!

TriXie: What would you like to be doing in ten years?

PMS Mary Jane: Co-hosting G4. No joke! I think that having some people who are super passionate about gaming hosting and coming up with show ideas is what is needed most! (And what I would most like to do! Because then I can game for a living!)

TriXie: I think you'd be great at that. You've got my vote. Anything else you'd like to add?

PMS Mary Jane: I think it's great that Xbox.com is featuring different gamers and different clans. I just hope soon everyone realizes that we aren't "girl gamers" we are gamers! We live, eat, and breathe games … and our gender doesn't mean we are any different as players.
