| GamerchiX Talk About Mother's Day GiftsPublished May 8, 2008 We asked some of the GamerchiX about the best Mother's Day presents they've ever received and the one they've always wished for. We asked two major questions:
Favorites, almost across the board, are handmade gifts from their kids. And what most Moms really want? A vacation! Hmmmm … I would have to say my best Mother's Day gifts are the cute little handmade things the kids make at school. I love them, and Hubby giving me a relaxing day with card and flowers. Gift I haven't gotten that I would die for is a new cellphone cuz my pink phone broke (I love pink LOL) and texting on this dang thing takes forever. I would die for a Pantech Duo.
If your Mom likes pink, the pink controller might be good for her. Yeah, I would agree with Mocha Jive. The best Mother's Day gifts are the ones my boys make at school. Last year, my oldest who is 14 saved all year, and with his own money bought me a new iPod. It meant more because he saved and worked hard for it. And I love my iPod, it's always in my ear when I'm working or exercising. The best Mother's Day gifts are the little things that the kids make, they're always so cute. And when your BF does everything around the house so you get one day off is nice, too. :) The gift I never got but that I would want is a vacation somewhere without the kids and just with my BF. Being a mother is great, but sometimes you just need a break and want some alone time with your significant other. I've only been a Mother for a year, but the best Mother's Day present I received was the birth of my daughter. I'm not saying you should give your mother a baby, though LOL! The best Mother's Day gift I have never received but would love to? A nice Hawaiian vacation with my family :) I am not a Mom, but I know the best gift I ever gave my Mother. I know 'cause she honestly broke down into tears and got it framed. I was 20 years old, but still it was something I made. I made my Mom a four-page card that a lot of research and effort went into. I drew a big phoenix on the cover of it, and then fire on all the pages. I went off on how she was like the phoenix in mythology. How no matter how beat down she got, she would always rise from her ashes and become even better then before.
Marcus Fenix would be proud of silverstarlight's son. The best Mother's Day gift I got was last year. My son made me red paper flowers. He drew skulls and wrote GOW on each one. I thought it was clever. The gift I never got was my kids not fighting a whole day … now that would be cool. When your kid comes in and hands you a dandelion with the biggest smile on their face. That is priceless. I can't tell you how many dandelions I've wore in my hair over the years. My daughter, still to this day, makes me homemade cards. They are more precious than any she could have bought at the store. The absolute best Mother's Day gift I got was a hot meal. Sounds stupid, but my husband took our not quite two-month-old (at the time), and gave him his bottle while I enjoyed the first real hot meal I had consumed since our son was born. Everyone knows how inevitable it is … hot food=baby crying, LOL. The best Mother's Day gift I never got, well, that's a little more difficult a question to answer. Oh, I know … flowers. I love flowers but I'm a mess due to allergies, so the best gift I never got was a big ol' bouquet of flowers. Hmm on second thought, that doesn't really make much sense, but it's 8:30 in the morning and I slept poorly, so that's my answer/excuse and I'm sticking to it! I think the very best Mother's Day gifts are the handmade gifts at any age. My son, now 17, makes me cards and coupons that are very special to me. However, this last Mother's Day he got me something that I loved just as much. Don't laugh, but I was having problems getting through a couple of videogames, just stuck! He gave me a card and said, "This year Mom, I want to get you thru those levels so you can continue on with the games." Being a big gamer, I thought that was the sweetest thing :) I know a little corny, but I absolutely loved it and secretly hope he will do a similar thing this year as I have a couple games I am still just stuck on.
Perhaps her own Elite system would please Mom. The best Mother's Day gift: Flowers, mulch and yardwork to make it all look pretty outside, AND MY VERY OWN XBOX 360® for my female version of the "man room"!!! w00t! They got it for me just this past weekend (a week early, no doubt!), and now I don't have to fight for time on the console - it's all mine, mine, MINE! =) With the pink controller, and the messenger kit, and the camera. So I am the shiznit this Mother's Day! =) I can't think of anything that I haven't gotten that I wanted, my 3 teenage boys and hubby do a pretty good job. The best Mother's Day gift I ever got was the year our daughter was born. My husband got me a beautiful photo album to put baby pictures in. Now, 15 years later, it is dog-eared from all the times we've looked through it, and that makes it even more priceless to me. I would say that since this is gonna be my first Mother's Day that the best gift I've ever gotten is my son. So, since I haven't gotten anything, I'm gonna say that the best thing I would want to get and probably won't is a manicure, pedicure and a masseuse just for an hour or so … that would be the best! I agree with the other ladies. The best gifts are those handmade by your kids (and hand-picked dandelions definitely rule too). There was another one I got that holds a special place in my heart which was actually from my sister. She took some photos of my children and my other sisters' children from when they were little toddlers up through the present, and turned it into a calendar. She gave one to my mother and one to each of my sisters. I still haven't taken that calendar down. I just can't part with it. |
