GamerchiX Valentine's Day Gift GuidePublished February 5, 2008 Wondering what to get for the gamer girl in your life for that special day? We asked the GamerchiX to share their thoughts with us. There are a lot of great Valentine's Day gift suggestions for non-gaming girls too. Here are the things consistent to almost every list: Microsoft Points, spa certificates, gift certs for game retailers, and Xbox 360® accessories. Ok, it's up to you guys now! Clueless about what to get a non-gamer girl? Here's a tip—if it makes her look good, feel good or smell good, it's probably a safe bet. - Any kind of tech gizmo
- 120 GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive for Xbox Original games
- Gamefly or GameStop gift certificate
- Microsoft Points
- TurtleBeachX3 headset
- Huge new TV that can't possibly fit in an entertainment center
- Flowers!
What girl doesn't want games and flowers? :) —Psionic Jinx

—Koolaye - Gift Certificates to EB Games or GameStop

—Rogue Kitty Kat A massage from a licensed massage therapist. Sorry guys, it doesn't count as a gift when you rub our shoulders for 60 seconds. —mechANGEL- Remote Start for my van so I don't freeze my butt off running the kids around
- A nice night out with the hubby and no children allowed
- A spa day sounds nice too
—Ice The Woman - Cold hard cash and a day to myself to go shopping
- Games (Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 would be nice)
- Text Pad (So I can text faster)
- Wireless Receiver (So I can go wireless with my controller and headset on PC)
—Mocha Jive For the GamerchiX GamerMom: - My very own console. As we all know, us Moms don't get a lot of time to game between work, cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, being a chauffeur, grocery shopping, taking care of hubby, etc., etc., etc. And fighting over the 360 with any of the other family members is not as pleasant as it sounds. So, to save heartache for everyone, my very own console would be perfect. I don't need anything fancy, just something to play my games when I want to and when I am able to. Something that is all mine and no one else will touch.
- I'm going to need some new, comfy PJs and slippers to lounge around in when I'm playing my new console! Most of the girls on this forum say they play their games in their PJs. I want to try too!
- And if you really want to spoil me, hunny, get me a "Mom's Day Away". A day at the spa, where I can be pampered and preened over—someone to do my hair, my nails, my toes, even perhaps a massage! That way I can come back, ready to play a round or two in Gears of War®, or Halo® 3 on my 360 and kick some booty!
—LadyJai Nice gifts: - A nice journal with a heartfelt inscription written inside (or find a poem to copy)
- Case of wine
- Give her an entire day off from taking care of the house, husband, kids and pets so she can play Xbox 360 uninterrupted.
Not so nice: - Unless you know with 100% certainty the type of perfume she likes, DON'T buy her perfume!
- Any of those gift baskets with cheese balls and salami logs and other strange food products that will never be consumed in your house and will probably be re-gifted
- Under NO circumstances should you repackage a gift you got at the office from a colleague, client, or vendor, and present it to her like you bought it!
—PMS Harlequin I'd like a second Xbox 360—it becomes quite a pain when you have two people who love gaming to share just one console. — T3K SIREN T3KWarmbat Australia!!! Some cool stuffs from Xbox 360 like Microsoft Points, HD DVD, gift cards, GamerchiX sweaters, T-shirts, etc. HDTV would be nice … and a Valentine's card. —JuanitaElvira - iPod Touch

- Custom faceplates for console and GH 3 guitar

- A nice leather Coach with a wallet to match
- For me personally, art supplies, especially canvas
- 8-10 mega pixel digital camera

- A trip to Europe, specifically Germany, to meet my husband's family and Italy to study art.
- A new Mac Book Pro.
—Jypcee I want a nice dinner that I don't have to lift a finger for. He has to cook it, or order it, pick it up and serve it, then clean up afterward. And the movie has to be a new release we haven't seen and isn't on cable yet. He needs to make the popcorn and have my favorite movie snacks waiting for us when we curl up to watch the show. I don't want to go to a movie theater because I don't want to deal with strangers talking or texting during the movie. —Mistress Sara - I love eclectic things that show he actually thought about what to get me, so I can open something that none of my friends will get.
- I'm a sucker for moose-related things, whether it's a T-shirt or a stuffed animal moose, it melts my heart. Hello, my Gamertag is "Moose Muffin." Guys should pick up on the subtle hints!

- Pamper/Fun Gifts: Spa days, shopping gift card, a night to a concert, comedian, or theater event that you would never otherwise go to.
- Art: This year I'm asking for a piece of copper art from Claymoon Copper and Clay. I love her work and it's a local woman that does all this stuff with her husband. So a piece of art that is local and unique—not canned crap from print stores.
—Absolute Tara Alright, I'm wanting most of what everyone else wants! Greedy me! LOL. I think Starbucks gift cards are always welcome too for me, mmmm, coffee. Other than that I just like gifts that are from the heart even if they are silly little things like teddy bears.
—shortsweetbri
An Altair action figure says something about the gift giver, doesn't it? - 12-inch Altair figure collectible. Actually I can't wait for this so I'm getting it for myself!
- Videogames, and consoles that I don't already have, accessories, MS point cards
- Toshiba HD DVD player that upconverts ordinary DVDs, Sirius Stiletto 2, iPod Home
- DVDs of The Bourne Ultimatum, Live Free or Die Hard, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Las Vegas Season 4
- iTunes gift cards, comic books, restaurant gift cards, a new car, and my kids to finally clean their room
—Diva of Destiny There is only one thing that I really want that I am unable to give myself: time. I want a day off where the phone doesn't ring, kids find their own rides to and from work/the mall/wherever, nobody complains because there is "nothing" to eat, and laundry miraculously becomes clean without my intervention. I want to sit and play Halo … or Guitar Hero … or anything for more than an hour without concerns about kids, employees, pets, or my husband. I want my children to get along, my salespeople to sell, and my neighbors to stop running noisy power tools for just one day! I can dream … right? I'm actually hoping to get a satellite radio for my car. A new TV would be nice, but not exactly within this month's budget. I will be content with the standard gift cards to Victoria's Secret and GameStop. —Andrasta For gamer stuff, I'd go with some MS Points and a Messenger Kit. I'd like to have a Wii so I can finally play Zelda. Otherwise, I'd love a gift card to Victoria's Secret or maybe a massage or spa gift certificate. And whoever suggested LOST season 3, I definitely agree. Oh yeah, and The Bourne Ultimatum. —littleone314 Gift Certificates for GameStop, EB Games, Best Buy or any other tech store full of goodness. The spa trip is a great idea, or bring it on home—there are some fabulous kits, foot baths, and massage chairs available. The bonus of the chair is to play while relaxing, and you can share. Nothing beats an I.O.U note. Detail the car? Pick up a dish rag? Clean out the cat poop box? If these aren't run-of-the-mill chores for you, then they will actually put a smile on her face. I know I'd be grinning from ear to ear. As for the do-nots, I have to second the perfumes, etc. If you're not sure, don't do it! Clothes, skimpies, anything that makes you hesitate for even a second, might not be worth it. Gift certificates for those kind of things are much better. — Anoraky
You have to admit, it's cute. —pinkthrowup - New headset
- Mass Effect
- Viva Pinata: Party Animals
- My own copy of CoD 4
- I wonder if they make Gears of War action figures. If they don't, they should!! I would love to have a little Dom and a locust. They'd battle in the bathtub!
—Cappicorn Gift ideas? Well, it would depend on the relationship. I know I do like games and accessories for my 360 but honestly what I love most from my husband is his time. Time cooking together or cuddling while watching a show. He also plays music and writes and so the things he has given to me (in the 23+ years that we have been married) that mean the most are the poems and songs he has written just for me. They're personal and they're mine. They can't be bought and they're one of a kind, and I know that I am the only one who has them. They also contain his heart and he gives that to me in his poems and songs. You know they say that the best things in life are free, and in my case I have to say that it's true. I don't really want things (as nice as they are and as much as I enjoy them). I want him. If I weren't married and I was just dating someone … then things it is. Accessories and games for the 360. —Catalina PMS
At this point, I think I'm looking for a new phone. My Razor is just not cutting it anymore. The lack of a full keyboard when it comes to texting is driving me nuuuuuts. Other than that, a Zune. —PMS Kitty |
