Xbox GamerchiX: Over 1,000 Women Strong!

What began with a forum post "Looking for Xbox GamerchiX" has, in seven short months, become a thriving group of over one thousand gamer girls in twenty countries. Members include lifelong gamers as well as women who are very new to video games. Monday nights are Ladies Nights on Xbox LIVE® and the 'chiX have a great time trying new games, polishing their skills, chatting, and laughing.

"The rapid growth of Xbox GamerchiX is a testament to Xbox 360's appeal to more than just the hardcore gamer. It shows the Xbox Community is not just a boys club. Women are social by nature, and the wide range of content available, plus a five million member community, makes Xbox 360 THE social game console," said Jeff Bell, Corporate VP of Global Marketing, Interactive Entertainment Business.

A trip to the Women's Game Conference in 2005 was the
inspiration for starting a group for female gamers.

Here's what two of the co-founders of GamerchiX had to say about the results of their efforts:

"It's unbelievable how far the group has grown in the relatively short time we've been around. I love that it really has become a place where girls can find others who play and get a good game in without the fear of being harassed. The group epitomizes what gaming is supposed to be about—having fun!"

GamerchiX member number 1000!

Member number 1000 of GamerchiX is Flauntybean, from Hancock, Maryland. She's been on Xbox LIVE for five months, and found out about GamerchiX here on Xbox.com. She plays Gears of War®, Halo® 2, Phantasy Star Universe and Bankshot Billiards 2™. She is also expecting a baby gamer girl in February.
