While on vacation a few weeks ago, I met a very cool couple from Fort Worth, Texas, who suggested I check out Robot Chicken on Adult Swim. Even though I was trying desperately not to think about anything work-related while on vacation, I made a mental note of the suggestion even though I was pretty sure that Xbox LIVEĀ® Video Marketplace didn't offer the show. To my pleasant surprise, Marketplace began offering Robot Chicken the week I returned from vacation!

Each episode of Robot Chicken is fairly short so downloading them was quick. The series is frequently described as television for short attention spans, not only because the entire episode is less than 15 minutes long, but because each episode is made up of a variety of mini-sketches. In honor of this, I'll make my comments short and sweet.

About the Series
Robot Chicken is a stop-motion comedy co-created by Seth Green (who plays Dr. Evil's son in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) and Matthew Senreich. Both also serve as Executive Producers for the show. The opening credits set the stage by showing a chicken getting run over on the road, and then being brought back to life as a robot chicken by a mad scientist. To torture the chicken, the scientist straps it to a chair and forces it to watch various television shows. These television shows are the sketches that make up Robot Chicken.

Many celebrities have contributed their voices for characters, even though the show pokes fun at everything and everyone from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to Charlie Brown to Transformers to the viewers who contact them about making fun of GoBots.

The fast-paced show is addictive, and luckily, Adult Swim has picked it up for a third season. Catch the first two seasons on Video Marketplace. The short, hilarious videos will definitely make you laugh out loud.

Robot Chicken Favorites (So Far)

  • Junk in the Trunk, season 1, episode 2
Rachel Leigh Cook smashes more than eggs in her latest anti-heroin public service announcement. Optimus Prime, leader of the Transformers, falls prey to prostate cancer.
  • Book of Corrine, season 2, episode 19
Vince Vaughn presents his new show, Vince Vaughn Bangs Your Mom.

And if you're in the mood to see more short videos, check out the clips from The Office and 30 Rock under the Clips section in Video Marketplace. The episode titled "Back from Vacation" from The Office is awesome.
