Hardcore goes FlatOut
At A Glance
- The hardcore gamer likes it rough, and that's exactly what you'll find in FlatOut 2.
FlatOut™ 2 is hardcore the second it's out of the box. It has all the nail-biting, teeth-grinding edge that a good racing game should have, but the racing isn't the part that will twist up your guts. It’s the crashing, smashing, car-trashing action that permeates the whole FlatOut 2 experience that will turn your world upside down—literally.
FlatOut Racing
So you can drive around in circles and beat out all the other racers by taking the lead early on and hanging onto it. So what? In FlatOut 2, that’s the bare minimum you should be aiming for, especially if you want to be counted among the hardcore.

The cash is in the crash.
How you crash, how much you crash, and what you crash into all affect your final score. If you can crash and still maintain the lead, then and only then will you raise to the ranks of the hardcore. In order to pull that challenge off, however, you'll have to be quick on that Y button, the one that pops you back into the race after you’ve crashed (good!) or veered too far off-track (bad!).
Your Career Path
The greatest challenges await you in Career Mode. Here, you’re limited by locked cars and low starting cash. In the regular Single Race, Single Event, and Single Stunt modes, you can choose pretty much anything you want. Where’s the hardcore challenge in that? What you want is to start in the mud and work your way up to the gold. The only place you’ll find that challenge in this game is in Career Mode.
Start in the mud and work
your way up to the gold.
Crash Credit
Did I mention that you need to crash it, smash it and trash it in this game? This isn't a clean racing game, so keeping it clean is just going to get you beat. Get out there and leave some paint and parts in your wake. This isn't just about aesthetics, however. You earn points and prestige for your crack-ups.
Your crashes are graded on a scale of six stars. A small crash awards you one star, whereas completely obliterating another car gets you a coveted six star salute. Watch for opportunities throughout a race. The developers built objects and obstacles into the tracks for the specific purpose of giving you opportunities to create some beautiful destruction.

A good, hardcore crash will pump your nitro.
MVP Awards
After the race, you'll be in the running for four MVP award titles. For a true hardcore challenge, pull all four in one race. The MVP titles are: Best Wrecker, for most destruction of other vehicles; Fastest Lap; Blast Master, for dishing out the hardest hits; and Bulldozer, for causing the most damage to the environment. If you can't get all four of these in a single race, your hardcore status will be revoked.

This is about to get really ugly.
FlatOut 2combines speed and destruction in a unique and challenging way. To reach the realm of the hardcore gamer, you'll have to learn to balance both elements perfectly to score the most points. That will require some multi-tasking, something lesser gamers aren't up to. Flat-out focus is what’s required. Either you’ve got it, or you don’t. So, what’s your score?
