Hardcore Stylin' in PGR 3

Fast cars right off the showroom floor and races hard enough to make a grown man cry? That's a combination I can get behind and cheer for.

That's a combination that makes me rediscover my love for the racing genre, and it's just that combination that Project Gotham Racing® 3 offers.

That's my exhaust you're breathing.

That's my exhaust you're breathing.

Sure, if you have a note from your doctor or parent that you're too wussified to embrace the "insta-challenge" PGR™ 3 offers from the get-go, you can settle for a more laid-back style, but if you want to rev your engines with the pros, you need to keep the following in mind.

With Gotham TV broadcasting the best player's
races, you have the perfect opportunity to
make a real and lasting name for yourself.

Manual a Must
Racing with an Automatic Transmission is a little like playing a first-person shooter with auto-aim; in the hardcore world, that nonsense should get you banned from competition. There's no quicker way of declaring that you don't and never will have the ability to compete based on skill, and that you need the game to hold your trembling hand while you try to play with the big boys and girls.

Class A, My Friend
I require just enough horsepower that precision control at high speeds becomes an exercise in cold sweats and bulging eyes. I want every drift to require pitch-perfect driving and every hairpin corner to stand my own hair on end.

That's why I only race Class A, my friends. Quite frankly, that's why Class A exists. It increases the difficulty level just based on the car you drive. If you want to truly test your mettle, try competing exclusively in this hard-to-master class.

Nice line. Keep it up.

Combo Style
A scorching drift around an impossible corner at a high rate of speed just isn't good enough. You need to turn that drift into a draft, an overtake, or even another drift to rack up the combo points. Each delivered set of Kudos should be a part of a significant chain born from precise but reckless driving. You know you're hitting the mark when you find the leaderboard at the end of each race placing you high among the PGR 3 elite.

Drive it Clean
Dirty driving goes by an even uglier term, and that's cheating. Deliberately tapping the rear bumper of another driver (especially online) to spin them out is the lowest form of racing, and one that should not be tolerated. Do yourself a favor and win with a smile and lose with grace. If you're solidly beat and your only answer is to declare yourself a twit by sideswiping a true competitor, do me a favor and find someone else to take your Xbox 360 console, because you plainly don't deserve it.

Close, but not too close.

Close, but not too close.

Full Garage
PGR 3 is filled to capacity with luxury and exotic cars, but it's not enough to see them and admire them; you must own them all. Little else is more satisfying than going from filled garage to filled garage and glancing lovingly over the gleaming paintjobs. A proper PGR 3 career is a long one, so spend those credits wisely and procure all that you can.

Platinum
Perhaps the pinnacle of PGR 3 mastery is the Platinum Champion achievement, and it's just that goal that you should be striving for. Sure, it's reasonable to play a bit going for Gold instead of Platinum medals, but once you're comfortable, it's time to take each race seriously. After all, no single-player race is really won 'til all the medals are captured, and you can ensure just that by shooting for the Platinum every time.

Stay the Hero
Communities recognize excellence and longevity. If you can achieve both in Project Gotham Racing 3 online, you'll make a name for yourself. It's a goal in every game to enter a lobby and to hear people groan, knowing that just your presence means they're playing for second place. The good news is thatPGR 3 is built for just that sort of community experience. With Gotham TV broadcasting the best player's races, you have the perfect opportunity to make a real and lasting name for yourself.

Now buckle up and burn some rubber.
