Major Nelson at E3

Major Nelson Tours the E3 Show Floor

E3 isn’t just an event, it’s an experience. That’s why we’re using Microsoft® Plus! Photo Story 2 to take you there. With Microsoft® Windows Media® photo and audio compression technology, our photos, animations, video, and narration retain great quality, yet are small enough to easily send in an e-mail and publish to the Web.

Major Nelson's Bio

February 9, 2004—What a great time to be on Xbox Live®! With more than 150 downloads and more than 90 online games, Xbox Live members have access to the best games and newest content and the ability to play (and trash talk) with friends online in real time.

My name is Larry. You’ll find me online as Major Nelson. I’m the new guy here at Xbox Live, but I’ve got the coolest job: Director of Programming for Xbox Live. My goal is to make sure that Xbox Live continues to grow and remain the coolest form of entertainment on the planet. Yeah, it sounds like a tough job (and it will be!), but what could be better than playing and working with gamers to make Xbox Live even more fantastic?

If you haven’t done it already, sign in to the Xbox forums. I post there regularly to learn about what members like, don’t like, and what they want from the service. I won’t be able to answer every request, but I will try. My office is in the midst of the cool people that built the Xbox and Xbox Live service—the people that make everything happen. My job is to find out what your concerns are and bring them to the Xbox Live team. Think of me as your guy on the inside. So stop by the forums and speak your mind.

When you’re an Xbox Live member, you have access to more than 150 downloads that are included with the cost of your Xbox Live subscription. If you own Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, pop it in and download three additional levels to sharpen your stealth skills until Pandora Tomorrow comes out. Own Crimson Skies™: High Road to Revenge™? We’ve got you covered with a new multiplayer map. If racing is what gets you going, download the 10 new cars and 20 new tracks for Midtown Madness® 3.

Bottom line: Get on Xbox Live and extend the life of your games.

How about playing against some of today’s hottest stars? XboxLive members have gone up against NASCAR driver Robby Gordon and great bands like New Found Glory, The Used, Hoobastank, O.A.R., and Korn. Big Boi from OutKast was our most recent celebrity gamer, and in the next few months, Everlast, Fefe Dobson, Little Brother, The Strokes, The Crystal Method, Phantom Planet, and Skrape will be online and looking to mix it up in your favorite games.

Got questions? Send me email, and in the coming weeks, I’ll answer some of your questions about the service, upcoming features, and share any information I can gather.

See you on Xbox Live!
