Newsflash:Championship Gaming Series Announces Games Lineup for 2008Published Febuary 15, 2008 The Championship Gaming Series, the only worldwide professional videogaming league, announced the four games it will use for the televised season of 2008. The official slate of online games will be announced in the coming weeks. On the Xbox 360® console, Tecmo's Dead or Alive® 4 will return for its second season, and the league's new official racing title will be Microsoft Studio's Forza Motorsport™ 2. PC titles used will be Valve's Counter-Strike: Force and EA Sports' FIFA 08.
Fans will be out in force at the CGS to watch the racing in Forza Motorsport 2. This is Forza Motorsport 2's debut in the professional videogaming circuit. "Featuring bone-crushing damage and authentic simulation physics at a blistering 60 frames-per-second, Forza Motorsport 2 will test the mettle of the world's best gamers as they race each other on the most challenging tracks in the world," said Dan Greenwalt, the game's lead designer at Microsoft Game Studios.
DOA 4 promises plenty of fighting action for the CGS. Tecmo was also pleased to be involved in the series. "We are very excited that Dead or Alive 4 was chosen to be the featured fighting game for Championship Gaming Series again," said John Inada, Vice President of Tecmo, Inc. "We love and fully support what Championship Gaming Series is doing for the game industry and for gamers around the world." The 2008 North American season gets underway March 7-9 at the South by Southwest ScreenBurn Arcade in Austin, Texas. The CGS North American Combine and Draft will feature the best gamers from the United States and Canada vying to distinguish themselves for a spot on one of six teams: Los Angeles Complexity, New York 3D, Chicago Chimera, Carolina Core, San Francisco Optx, and Dallas Venom.
