How can I be in the Gamer Spotlight?

Xbox Community Ambassadors who hit Level 13 in the Ambassador program are guaranteed a Gamer Spotlight feature. If you're NOT an Ambassador, send us a nomination email (nominating yourself or someone else who loves Xbox) at gamerspotlight@microsoft.com with the subject "Gamer Spotlight." You don’t need to have a certain gamerscore and you don’t have to live in the United States. You DO need to be at least 13 years old. We get thousands of nominations every week, so make your email stand out: tell us about the cool or interesting things you do when you’re not gaming. Do you have a crazy job or unusual hobby? Let us know! We’ll get in touch with you if we think you would make a good interview subject. Good luck!

By participating, you agree that information you provide can be used by Xbox in Gamer Spotlight publicity.

Interview

Applying his real-world IT knowledge to helping the community helps this Ambassador feel all warm and fuzzy inside. He first came to Xbox LIVE in 2006 with the release of Dead Rising but has been a gamer since the early days of home entertainment systems.

What's the story behind your gamertag?
When Terminator 2 hit cinemas, I was so excited about the CGI effects, I just had to see the movie again. So after I left the cinema, I just lined up again right there. The next day my classmates expanded my nickname to "Arminator" and it stuck. Since "Arminator" was already taken on Xbox LIVE, I added the "X."

What's the worst or weirdest job you've ever had?
Worst job was doing night shift to pay for my tuition. Ten hours of taking a small screw out of a box, marking it, and putting it in another box. After ten hours, the large pile of screws always looked as if I hadn't worked at all. Very demotivating.

What do you do when you're not playing games?
I manage the IT department in a metal coating company. The company is quite small, so my job is a one-man show, but the experience I get from networking hardware often helps me troubleshoot other peoples’ NAT issues when I'm on "Ambassador Duty."

What do you think is the best game of all time?
My all time favorite is Shenmue 1 and 2 on my Dreamcast. Despite the worst cliffhanger in videogame history.

What do you think is the best album of all time?
Propellerheads’ Decksanddrumsandrockandroll. That album helped me survive through my night shifts mentioned above. And it has the music “Lobby Scene” from The Matrix.

What's your favorite song in a music game?
A-Ha's "Take On Me" in Lips, and Kansas' "Carry On My Wayward Son" in Guitar Hero.

What is your greatest Xbox LIVE moment?
Wreaking havoc in Paradise City with Burnout Paradise.

Favorite cartoon character?
Johnny Bravo. He’s the only man whose hair is almost as pretty as Farrah Fawcett’s.

If you could be any video game character, whom would it be?
I think the guy from the classic OutRun arcade game, speeding down beautiful roads in a Ferrari with cool music blasting from the radio and a hot blonde on the passenger seat. What else would one need?

What's the first video game you ever played?
The first more well known game I played was Pitfall II on my Commodore 64. The first console video game was Super Mario Bros. on the NES.

What's the last book you read?
I'm currently reading Accelerando by Charles Stross.

What is the Gamer Spotlight?

The Gamer Spotlight is a weekly feature here on Xbox.com and on Xbox LIVE where we interview someone from the Xbox LIVE community. We’ve interviewed contest winners, podcasters, grandmas, soldiers, teachers, lawyers, students, rappers, artists, moms, dads and teenagers. What they all have in common is they play games on Xbox LIVE! Meet new people every week in the Gamer Spotlight!
