World Cyber Games: TriXie's Travels, U.S. Open
Published June 2, 2008
This is the second year Video Monkey and I traveled to New York for the World Cyber Games U.S. Open at the Samsung Experience Store in the Time Warner building.

Here are the competitors for the PC titles furiously mousing and arrow-keying their way to victory … or defeat.
I ran into my old pal MoB GODFATH3R, patriarch and boss of the MoB Gaming Family. He had me try some of the energy drink that sponsors his team. It was sort of like orange Red Bull.
In between rounds, Marathon Girl, Video Monkey, and I had some lunch. The view of Broadway was terrific; the food … not so much.

Back at the competition, I chatted with Skittles and Max1mus, who I haven't seen since last year's National finals in Orlando. Skittles was knocked out, but Max1mus continued to the final round where he handily defeated BBoyle.

CidKid on the left and Shag on the right competed in the new WCG title Virtua Fighter® 5. Shag's fighting skills weren't strong enough to take him to the finals, but CidKid walked away with $700 for his easy defeat of adamYUKI in the final round.
This is MoB Wulf, from the MoB Gaming Family. Watching him play Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock will make your head spin and your eyes bleed. It's phenomenal. No one in the walk-up tournament could even come close to his high score (over 600K!). He will be representing Team USA at the Pan Am games in Mexico with $700 bucks of WCG prize money in his pocket.
Here's Video Monkey and me interviewing Max1mus after his big win. BBoyle took the first race on Shinguku Speedway, but Max smoked him in Vegas and London to win 700 bucks and a trip to Monterrey Mexico for the Pan Am Championship.

Love it when a gaming event is in a mall! Here I am back in my tiny, messy hotel room trying on my new dress I bought at bebe between rounds. Next up: The Pan Am Championship in Mexico! Arriba!
TriX out.
