TriXie's Travels: New York

Published October 24, 2007

Xbox threw a party in celebration of the new Xbox 360™ Arcade console at the Toys R Us flagship store in Times Square, and Video Monkey and I were there to capture all the fun. I also took some time to shop, play Guitar Hero III, and shop.

roomview

We arrived in fabulous New York City on Monday evening. I had dinner with my BFF Orlena, and Video Monkey went off to sup with his daughter who is an aspiring actress, and a recent graduate of Smith College. I'm a college dropout. But I have a cool view!

TRU

Tuesday morning it was off to Toys R Us. Here we are riding up in the elevator. Check out the video we shot from the Ferris Wheel!

GH3

Manric(co-conspirator for TriX and Treats and recent guest on Major Nelson Radio) and I played a little "Rock You Like a Hurricane" on Guitar Hero III. You can play it for yourself—the demo's out now on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace! BTW, Manric won—but just barely.

Depp

Breaking off one of these Legos may be the only way I ever get a piece of Johnny Depp. Speaking of hot … the other day I managed to set the stove on fire. My son xShadowSandmanx says to me, "Will Major Nelson think it's funnier that you started a fire or that you were using the stove?"

Barbie

That inspired me to buy this awesome Barbie Learns to Cook. It comes with teeny pots and pans. Look closely and you can see it says "Ken loves my famous casserole—yummy!" If she's just learning how to cook, how is her casserole famous? Methinks casserole is a euphemism for something else Ken loves. Yummy indeed.

NY Shirts

Some New York T-shirts for my kids. My daughter specifically requested I NOT bring her back any clothes. But this has Hello Kitty!! Taxi drivers were on strike Monday. A ride from 45th to Bond Street was 15 bucks!

Community

After a long but very fun day at Toys R Us, Vid Monkey and I had dinner with some cool community people. Here are John Porcaro of Gamerscoreblog and his eight year old son Alex who got the biggest laugh of the night when he made a very grown up assessment of the Backstreet Boys.

More Community

Also joining us were Wildsevenz777 and XboxBoy68 who are very awesome guys. I hope they don't get in trouble for skipping class to hang out with us! I give them both an A+ in community and Springsteen fanboydom! It's a big fat cliché, but I heart New York!

TriX out.
