TriXie's Travels: Tokyo, Day Two

Published September 20, 2007

After schlepping all over Tokyo, I finally ended up in the right place and got to do some interviews, hit the show floor and go to a party!

otani view

Here is the view from my window. What you can't see is the soul-sucking heat and humidity. It's pretty miserable, and this place does not seem to be down with the A/C so much.

Jade

Video Monkey and I met with people about Lost Odyssey, Ninja Gaiden II, and Assassin's Creed. We thought you'd probably like looking at a picture of Jade Raymond the most.

xboxbooth

Over to the Makuhari Messe. Or convention center thingie. The Tokyo Game Show, I mean! Halfway between hell and the Xbox booth we were accosted by a dude from Namco inviting us to come check out his booth. I need an invitation? Anyway he got all stoked when I told him I wanted to play Beautiful Katamari. Oh yeah, this is the Xbox booth. It was large and in charge. Our booth babes wore white go-go boots.

Assassin's Creed Line

Here is a line to go check out an Assassin's Creed demo. I don't know what this sign says. Is it a sixty minute wait? Sixty bucks to get in? Sixty percent less preservatives and fillers? I don't know but there sure are a lot of people willing to wait for it.

Sakaguchi

The big surprise today was Sakaguchi-san making an unexpected appearance to demo Lost Odyssey in the booth. There were tons of people watching and it was awesome to see the man himself showing off his game.

Booth Babe photo

Okay, full disclosure: I didn't take this picture—Video Monkey did. I would have been embarrassed to be caught taking this picture. Regardless, this gives you a good idea of what goes on at TGS, and is a good reminder why booth babes were banned at E3.

pool party

In the evening it was time for the International Press and Community Party hosted by Xbox and Games for Windows. The Japanese Major Nelson was there, though the American Major Nelson was not. Unfortunately Nelson-san doesn't speak my language and I don't speak his. Other than that glitch it was a great party with guests from a whole bunch of places including Joystiq, Kotaku, and G4TV.

Itagaki

But the best part was that I got to meet Itagaki-san!!

TriX out.
