Common terms used in these rules:
These are the official rules that govern how the Rock the World Xbox LIVE Weekend Play & Win Prize Draw promotion will operate. This promotion will be simply referred to as the "Prize Draw" throughout the rest of these rules.

In these rules, "we," "our," and "us" refer to Microsoft Corporation the sponsor of the Prize Draw. "You," "yourself" refers to an eligible Prize Draw entrant.

1. WHAT ARE THE START AND END DATES?
This Prize Draw starts at 12:00:01 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) on October 3, 2008, and ends at 11:59:59 P.M. Eastern Time (ET) on October 5, 2008 ("Entry Period"). Entries must be received within the Entry Period to be eligible.

The Entry Period consists of three (3) separate Daily Prize Periods as follows. Entries will be eligible for the Daily Prize Period for which they are received only and will not be eligible for subsequent Daily Prize Periods. Daily Prize Winners will be randomly selected from among all eligible entries received during each Daily Prize Period. Each Daily Prize Winner will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.

2. CAN YOU ENTER?
You are eligible to enter this Prize Draw if you meet the following requirements:

You are a legal resident of the 50 United States (includes District of Columbia) or Canada, and you are 18 years or older at the time of entry; and
You are NOT an employee of Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft Canada Co., or any of their subsidiary companies; and
You are NOT involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw; and
You are NOT an immediate family (defined as parent, sibling, spouse, child regardless of where they live) or household member of a Microsoft employee, an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Prize Draw.

This Prize Draw is void outside the geographic area identified above and wherever else prohibited by law.

3. HOW DO YOU ENTER?
You can enter online if you have access to an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, the Rock Band 2 Xbox 360 video game, and you are an Xbox LIVE Gold member in good standing. Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you must do all of the following:

1. Register for the Sweepstakes online at http://www.xbox.com/RocktheWorld before the close of the Entry Period on October 5, 2008, at 11:59:59 P.M. ET.
OR,
2. Register via Xbox LIVE Marketplace by downloading the free Rock the World LIVE Weekend Gamer Picture ("Gamer Picture") before the close of the Promotion Period. To download the Gamer Picture:

Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Xbox LIVE Marketplace,
Select "Game Store",
Select "All Games",
Select "Rock Band 2",
Select " Rock the World LIVE Weekend Gamer Picture " from the list of available content and select "Confirm Download".
Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download Players will see a " Rock the World LIVE Weekend Gamer Picture downloaded" message.

(NOTE: Users may also access the free Rock the World LIVE Weekend Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.)

You must register for the Sweepstakes using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to play Rock Band 2 multiplayer sessions on the Xbox LIVE service during a Daily Prize Period. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE gamer profile information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current. You can update your gamer profile information as described below

Updating Account Information (example for e-mail):
You can verify/update your profile information via your account profile on Xbox.com or through the Xbox Dashboard:

From the Xbox Dashboard:
- From the Xbox Dashboard, select "Marketplace Blade/Screen".
- Select "Account Management".
- Select "Contact Information".
- Enter your account e-mail and password, and then select "Sign In".
- E-mail address is located on the Contact Information screen.
Via Xbox.com:
- Go to http://live.xbox.com/en-US/default.aspx.
- Sign in to Xbox using your Windows Live ID account email and password.
- Select "Manage Profile" on your "My Xbox" Home Page.
- Select "Billing and Contact Information".
- Update your Profile Information and then select "Save".

You will automatically receive one (1) entry into a Daily Prize Period Drawing when you log in to the Xbox LIVE service on an Xbox 360 system and play a Rock Band 2 multiplayer session on Xbox LIVE during the corresponding Daily Prize Period. Entries will be eligible for the Daily Prize Period for which they are received only and will not be eligible for subsequent Daily Prize Periods.

To enter by mail, without playing Rock Band 2 on the Xbox LIVE service, hand-print your full name, address, city, state/province, ZIP/postal code, phone number, e-mail address (if any) and the Daily Prize Period (i.e., Prize Period 1, 2, or 3) on a 3x5 piece of paper and mail it to:

Mail-in entry(ies) must be postmarked by Monday, October 6, 2008, and received by Monday, October 13, 2008, to be eligible. Limit one (1) entry per outer mailing envelope.

We will only accept one (1) entry per person per Daily Prize Period. We are not responsible for entries that we do not receive for any reason, or for entries that we receive, but are not decipherable for any reason.
We will automatically disqualify:

(1) Any incomplete or illegible entry; OR
(2) Any entries that we receive from you that are in excess of the entry limit described above.

4. WHAT IS/ARE THE PRIZE(S)?
One (1) Grand Prize Package available. A prize package that includes the following:

A trip for two (winner and a guest) to New York City to tour MTV Studios (ARV $3,000 USD)
Trip includes:
- Three (3) nights standard hotel accommodations (two (2) people per room);
- Transfers to/from airport/hotel;
- Opportunity for winner and guest to tour MTV Studios;
- A $150.00 USD travel allowance.
4,000 Microsoft Points (ARV $50 USD)
12-month Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription card (ARV $49.99 USD)

Actual value depends on the travel date/time/destination. Any difference between actual value and stated value will not be awarded.

Travel subject to availability and must be completed by March 31, 2009, or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Some restrictions may apply. Winner and any guests must travel on same itinerary. No cancellation of reservation or transfer of reservation to another date after reservation has been made.

For Canadian Residents: If you accept the Grand Prize, you must have valid documents for travel. You will forfeit the prize if: (a) the proper travel documents are unattainable for any reason within the time we require; (b) if you are Canadian and did not have the unqualified right, at the time of being selected, to re-enter Canada after leaving the country; or (c) if any immigration complications arise which prohibit you as a Canadian, from entering the United States. In the latter event, you will be solely responsible for arranging and paying for travel back to your point of origin. Any prizes forfeited may, at Microsoft's sole option, be awarded to an alternate entrant.

Ten (10) Second Prize Packages available. A prize package that includes the following:

Fifty (50) Third Prize Packages available. A prize package that includes the following:

A Rock Band hat (ARV $19.99 USD)

Forty-Five (45) Daily First Prize Packages available (fifteen (15) per Daily Prize Period). 1,000 Microsoft Points (ARV $12.50 USD)

One hundred twenty (120) Daily Second Prize Packages available (forty (40) per Daily Prize Period). 500 Microsoft Points (ARV $6.25 USD)

[NOTE: Microsoft Points will expire from a user's account at 11:59 PM PT on June 30, 2009. Winners must spend these Microsoft Points prior to this expiration date.]

Approximate Retail Value of all prizes combined: $9,986.74 USD

If for any reason the advertised prize is unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. We will only award one (1) Daily Prize Package per person during the entire Entry Period.

If you are selected as a potential winner:

(1) You may not exchange your prize for cash or any other merchandise or services.
(2) You may not designate someone else as the winner. If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we will award it to an alternate potential winner.
(3) If you accept a prize, you will be responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize, if any.
(4) And are a minor (being under the age of majority) we may require, at our sole discretion, that the prize be awarded on your behalf to your parent/legal guardian..

5. HOW ARE WINNERS SELECTED AND NOTIFIED?

Daily Prize Period Drawings
On October 27, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. (ET), at the offices of Marden-Kane Inc, 36 Maple Place, Manhasset, NY 11030 USA, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will conduct three (3) separate prize drawings; one for each Daily Prize Period.

In each Daily Prize Period drawing, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will select fifteen (15) potential winners of the Daily First Prize Package, and forty (40) potential winners of the Daily Second Prize Package from among all eligible entries received during the applicable Daily Prize Period. .Non-winning entries will not carry over to any remaining Daily Prize Period Drawings.

Grand Prize Drawing
All Daily Prize Package winners will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.

After the three (3) Daily Prize Period Drawings, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will conduct the Grand Prize Drawing.

In the Grand Prize Drawing, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will select from among all Daily Prize Package winners: one (1) potential Grand Prize Winner, five (5) potential First Prize Package Winners, ten (10) potential Second Prize Package Winners, and fifty (50) potential Third Prize Package Winners.

If you are a potential winner, we will notify you by sending a message to the e-mail address, the phone number, or mailing address (if any) listed on your entry within seven (7) days following the random drawing. If our notification is returned as undeliverable, or we are unable to reach you for any reason, we may randomly select an alternate winner.

If there is a dispute as to who is the potential winner, we will consider the potential winner to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter the Prize Draw.

If you are a potential winner, we may require you to sign a declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release. If you are a potential winner and if you are a minor in your state/province of residence, and we require that the prize be awarded to your parent or legal guardian on your behalf pursuant to clause 4(4) above, we may require that they sign a declaration of eligibility and liability/publicity release. If you, (or your parent/legal guardian if applicable), do not sign and return these required forms within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may disqualify you (or the designated parent/legal guardian) and randomly select an alternate winner.

If you are a Canadian resident and you are potential winner you will be required to correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by either telephone or email. If you answer the skill-testing question incorrectly, as determined by us in our sole discretion, you will be disqualified and, at our discretion, an alternate winner shall be chosen from among all remaining eligible entries.

6. WHAT ARE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING?
Your odds of winning a Daily Prize Package depend on the number of eligible entries we receive during each day of the Entry Period.

Your odds of winning a Grand Prize Package depend on the number of Daily Prize Package winners; estimated to be 165.

7. WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS ARE YOU ARE AGREEING TO BY ENTERING THIS PRIZE DRAW?
By entering this Prize Draw you agree:

To abide by these Official Rules;
To the extent allowable under applicable law, to release and hold harmless Microsoft and its or their respective advertising and promotional agencies and Prize Draw judging organization, the parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, representatives, successors, assigns and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Prize Draw or any prize won.
That Microsoft's decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Prize Draw; and
That by accepting a prize, Microsoft may use your name and place of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Prize Draw, without payment or compensation to you.

8. WHAT LAWS GOVERN THE WAY THIS PRIZE DRAW IS EXECUTED AND ADMINISTRATED?
This Prize Draw will be governed by the laws of the United States. Prize Draw is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, State and Municipal laws.

For Quebec Residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

9. WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE PRIZE DRAW CAN'T RUN AS PLANNED?
If cheating, a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also referred to as force majeure) affects the fairness and / or integrity of this Prize Draw, we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Prize Draw, subject to obtaining the approval from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux with respect to the province of Quebec. This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If a solution cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Prize Draw, we reserve the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Prize Draw.

If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Prize Draw by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by law. Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Prize Draws, so please play fairly.

10. HOW CAN YOU FIND OUT WHO WON?
We will post the names of confirmed winners online after November 24, 2008 at http://www.xbox.com/RocktheWorld.
