Do You Know a Great Gaming Dad?

Do you know a terrific gaming Dad? Here's your chance to show him some Father's Day love and take a shot at winning an awesome prize for yourself*. Here's how it works.

Write an original essay about a father (or male legal guardian) and gaming. Do you know a Dad who does a great job balancing gaming and fatherhood? Is he known for his patience with n00bs or his mad fragging skills? Does he play games with his kids? Is he raising his gamer offspring to play fair and follow the rules?

Your essay should be at least 250 words, but no more than 500 words, and must be received by 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time, June 9, 2007. Essays should be e-mailed to xlmail@microsoft.com, with the subject line "Xbox Dad of the Year."

Who's eligible to enter this contest?
You must be 13 years of age or older. (If a minor wins the contest, the prize will be awarded to their legal guardian.) You must be a legal resident of the 50 United States, District of Columbia, and Canada (except for Quebec).

What are you looking for in this essay?
We'll be evaluating the essays for creativity and originality, appeal to Xbox.com readers, and ability to effectively show respect and admiration for your nominee.

Do I have to nominate my own father?
No. You can nominate your Dad, your brother, your best friend or husband or boyfriend. In other words, you can nominate anyone other than yourself who's a Dad or legal male guardian. However, please make sure you have permission from such person, and share the Official Rules with them so they understand how the contest works.

Let's say my essay wins. If my nominee is the Xbox Dad of the Year, why do I get the prize? Doesn't he get anything?
Unless you are a minor in your state/province of legal residence, you get the prize because you did the hard work of writing the essay. Your nominee gets the respect and admiration of the Xbox Community, plus 15 seconds of fame on Xbox.com. If you want to share your prize with him, that's up to you.

When's the deadline?
We must receive your entry by 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time on Saturday, June 9, 2007.

Where do I send my entry?
Send it to xlmail@microsoft.com with the subject line of "Xbox Dad of the Year."

What if I'm under 18? Can I still win?
Yes, your entry can win. But we will have to award the prize to your parent or guardian.
