Details:Who: Jimmy Eat World Date: Saturday, October 27, 2007 Game: Halo 3 | Game with Fame: Jimmy Eat WorldPublished October 31, 2007 This past Saturday, Game With Fame took over the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a two hour Halo® 3 session with Jimmy Eat World. Halo 3 was set up backstage in the Green Room on a 50-inch HDTV for the best quality experience. All four guys are HUGE fans of Xbox 360® and had been playing (practicing!) until 5 A.M. the night before their GWF (they have an Xbox 360 setup on their tour bus). The guys had a great time playing against members of the Xbox community. Here’s what some of the lucky gamers had to say about their experience: I got to play 3 rounds with the guys from Jimmy Eat World today and just want to thank everyone at Microsoft who helped to make that possible! We played 2 regular Slayer matches and an awkward combination of Rocket/Shotties in one match. I'm proud to say that I got MVP every round, but the spotlight is really on the band and everyone who gave me the chance to play with them. Thanks again, everyone!
Jimmy Eat World in front of the Game with Fame setup. I'm a big fan of Jimmy Eat World. I was really excited when I heard that they were going to give gamers a chance to play some Halo 3 with them, so I definitely made sure to get in on the action. All of the guys were really cool and didn't care when we kept beating them over and over again. It felt like playing with old buddies, we were all just in it to have fun. During one of the games, Zach was on my team and he accidentally ran me over with a vehicle. It was the coolest betrayal I've ever experienced in the game. Overall it was just a really great time, one that I am very glad that I got to do. Hello, my name is David F., aka Doofus88 on XBL. I played with Jimmy Eat World today and it was awesome. Thanks to Microsoft, I got to play with my favorite band and it was quite fun. Me and my friend Adam aka Goonies Mouth had such a blast playing with our favorite band. They were really nice guys and were really cool about playing with us. Thanks for giving me the chance to hang out with my favorite band. —Doofus88 (Chicago, IL) I had quite a time today. I was able to play with my favorite band. I have been a Jimmy Eat World fan for over ten years. I used to watch them at small little crowded teen centers just to watch them play. As I was older than the majority of the crowd, I was awash with discomfort, but still got to see them get up on stage and do what I admire them for. Thanks to Microsoft, I get to play friends from San Diego (my hometown) to Florida and everything in between. My friend Dave (Doofus88) and I had a blast playing with Jimmy Eat World today and I just wanted to say thank you and please, if you can, promote them on LIVE some more. They're great guys and fun to play with. Once again, thank you very much for the chance to play my favorite band on Xbox LIVE. I even got up early to do so, and I work late into the night. You definitely made my day, with the help of the four guys from Arizona, of course. —Goonies Mouth (Oceanside, CA) I loved every moment. I managed to get a lot of kills and had the chance to ask one or two questions! We had a laugh and fought well. Tom made me laugh. I hope to play with them again soon! —BlastedMarcus (Saffron Walden, UK)
Jimmy Eat World eating the competition at Halo 3. I'm literally just off from playing with the lads of Jimmy Eat World. To be honest, it was very enjoyable. After a bit of team hopping by everyone and me holding up the game (by accident, mind you) we got our first game off. A chaotic fest. The last match I played with them was an all-Gravity Hammers match and it really was insane! Thanks for the opportunity. —CryingHero (Cork, Ireland) I was lucky enough to get in on the first couple of games that the guys from Jimmy Eat World did today. I saw you were asking for comments and I just wanted to say that it was AWESOME that these guys did this. It really goes to show how cool they are that they interact with their fans by taking some time to play games and talk with us. I kept finding myself squaring off with Zach. He got the better of me once, but I think I got him more times than not. Good times. Thanks for making this happen. Not only did I get to play Halo 3, but I got to play with the coolest band! I played with Rick Burch, and it was awesome! I sat there for at least an hour waiting until I got the invite, and my hands were so trembling, it took like a minute to accept, LOL. And he put on a battle! I sucked a ton but it was still the best experience, and all my friends were jealous. Thanks Microsoft, and Jimmy Eat World, and Halo 3! —No Gamertag Submitted (this is why you need to submit the Gamertags in your e-mails, folks! But thanks for the comments anyway.) |
