Cologne, Germany— This year’s gamescom videogame expo is all about controller-free gaming and blockbuster titles that are only available on Xbox 360. Thousands of visitors will descend upon the city of Cologne this week to experience the transformation of games and entertainment. Whether you’re a keen gamer or taking part as a family, Xbox 360 has something truly exciting to offer everybody.
The "Xbox 360 Play Day" at gamescom is where unseen features of the year’s biggest games were revealed. German goalkeeping legend Jens Lehmann dropped by to unveil Football as part of Kinect Sports, while Bungie Studios showed more of what to expect from the phenomenal Halo: Reach campaign mode. Role-playing fans also got try out the newly announced co-operative mode in Fable III, and went hands-on with the Fable III Limited Edition Wireless Controller.
Here’s a breakdown of everything that gamescom visitors have been enjoying:
- Kinect Sports: We’ve introduced track and field events to the portfolio, including discus, throw, long jump, and javelin. Alongside football, these sports add to the line up of beach volleyball, bowling, table tennis, and boxing.
- Joy Ride: Experience an action-packed controller-free racer with stunt and dash modes to enjoy while admiring stunning landscapes. Three far-flung worlds comprise sixteen hyperactive courses to enjoy in co-op, race, and co-pilot challenges.
- Kinect Adventures: This game comes with your Kinect, and is designed to get your body moving! Prepare for Space Adventure and Yeti Living Statue among 20 adventures with four difficulty levels, and a further two challenge modes to unlock.
- Kinectimals: Here’s a fascinating new way to play with on-screen pets. Just speak and act the way you would with a real-life animal. Lion and jaguar cubs are among the furry friends inviting families to play together in multiplayer mode.
- Dance Central: Introducing the first full-body, controller-free dance video game in the world! Enjoy fun choreography for beginners and experts alike with more than 600 moves and more than 90 dance routines from professional choreographers.
PC gamers also got their chance to experience Age of Empires Online, a reimagining of the classic strategy game with newly incorporated LIVE features. The new Windows Phone 7 will soon support Xbox LIVE games too for when you’re on the go.
An amazing gamescom for Xbox, then, with all of these features and games available soon.
