Max Payne 3 is coming to the Xbox 360 on May 18, 2012. Gritty, cinematic, and action-packed, the Max Payne series made "Bullet Time" a household name for gamers.

But how can "bullet time" work in multiplayer? Surprisingly well, if the new video from Rockstar Games is any indication. Check out the new "Multiplayer Gameplay Part 1" video on the Xbox YouTube channel. In it, we get a look at how Max Payne 3 multiplayer brings the franchise's combination of highly responsive and cinematic shooting action to the realm of online multiplayer.

Bullet Time will work by triggering the effect for everyone who's in your line of sight in the third-person multiplayer mode, slowing time for all the players and giving them the opportunity to precisely line up shots. We're anticipating a lot of carnage from this.

The video also details the new Gang Wars mode, which features gangs from the single-player mode in constantly evolving, story-based scenarios. The storyline actually branches and changes based on the outcome of each round, an exciting twist compared to the usual "kill and kill again" multiplayer matches that we're anxious to try for ourselves. You'll also get the scoop on Payne Killer mode in the action-packed clips.
