The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings: Enhanced Edition will be coming to Xbox April 17, and if you’re a committed RPG fan, you’ve probably got that date circled in red on the calendar. The PC version released earlier got tons of favorable reviews, but the Xbox 360 version will have even more going for it, including new adventures and characters.
Polish developers CD Projekt and WB Games have created what IGN calls “one of the best role-playing games in years” (and that’s with Skryim and Kingdoms of Amalur having just been released). Sporting a complex storyline based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, you play the Witcher Geralt of Rivia who has been temporarily imprisoned. Your task is to escape and clear your name.
The Xbox 360 version will contain all previously released DLCs and upgrades for the PC version, and it will feature four completely new hours of gameplay with new adventures, and three new characters. CD Projekt have refined the controls for console play, but the sophisticated fighting system remains intact. If you’ve never tried the PC version, be prepared for a gritty, mature, and deep game that should provide some serious challenge.
Role-playing games have been invigorated in the last couple of years, and it’s great to see this genre thrive with developers like CD Projekt in the fold. Get your copy April 17 and we’ll see you in the world of Temeria!
