Troubleshooting FAQ for Xbox 360 Accessories

Q: Why can't I connect my wireless controller to the Xbox 360?

A: Typically, this is just a setup issue. Follow the links below for how to set this up.

Important notes:

  • Order of the steps in the links below are highly important.
  • When pressing the Guide button initially, it should flash green and blink, this is normal.
  • When pressing the connect button on the console as the step below, the ring of light should spin around green. This is normal. This step must be done after you press the Guide button on the controller.
  • After doing this, press the connect button on the controller.
  • The connect or binding button on the controller is at the front/top of it next to the left trigger button. Hold it down for 2 seconds at least. After this, the light over the Guide button should spin around like the ring of light on the console.
  • Controller should then bind to one of the ports and one quadrant should light up on both the ring of light and the controller.

Q: Why does the Xbox 360 Hard Drive (HDD) appear to be dirty on the top of it?

A: Some customers may not notice that on top of the HDD, there is a thin sticker. Try removing this, as it's not easily seen, and may look like its dirty.

Q: How do I know how much battery life is left in my wireless controller?

A: When you press the Guide button on your controller, you will see the battery indicator in the top left hand corner of the TV screen.
